What I think is that WowWee just made tribot just to say, " Umm yeahh... we cant bring the cost of RS V3 down so were making something woth lots of buttons, makes too much...

I really think it supposed to be a humanoid. Look at the joint locations. Looks like it has shoulder, elbow, and wrist joints. But this is all just speculation.

The gauntlets on his hands were removed to make room for the action buttons on his hands. On the first two pictures, the remote is modified. Which probably allowed the scroll functions of the hands...

You have to remember that it takes money to make each roboboa. If they sell it everywhere and don't sell very many, then they will lose money.
