I know that these have been out for a while now, but I just bought one. I just feel bad for the little guy when his feet snag some carpet. I was hoping that someone may have figured out a trick to helping him walk. I'm going to be Experimenting putting extra weight on his hips because when he gets caught i rock him a bit and he gets moving. If anyones tried this or if you have any suggestions please let me know.

Improving RoboRaptors bite and fixing neck bind???

Just wondering if anyone's gotten Roboraptor to open his mouth during the bite animation??? My raptor opens his mouth when he rotates his head to the left and thats about the only time he opens it...I'm guessing this is the norm, as most videos i've seen of the raptor are the same way.... but i'd like him to open his mouth during the actual bite, to allow him to pick up small objects off the ground and such. Looking at Mr Scotts post on his cure for lockjaw it seems he was able to improve the bite on one of his roboraptors by simply bending a mounting clip that is attached to the lower jaw cable to increase the tension on the cable, but my raptor seems to be constructed a bit diferently, there is no mounting clip, the cable is simply wrapped around a screw and then crimped off, so it seems like my only option would be to cut the cable and then recrimp it around the screw.... thus shortening it and applying more tension, but I think doing this would make the cable a little too short.... which might cause the mouth to stay open even in...

Roboraptor drooping Head Question

Are the three plastic rods the only things that holds Roboraptor's neck/head upright or are there any springs too? The reason I ask is because my roboratpor's head often droops down from gravity after the motor moves it in an upper position. And after its bottomed out, the motor pulls it back up again (but at a more slanted angle). Another problem is that when the head rotates to its right, it does so so much that its on its side (with right ear facing upwards) and I'm thinking that both problems may be related to a bent rod but aren't sure since I can't see the rods. Thanks!

How To Protect the RoboRaptor's Foot Pad's

As many of you probably know, the RoboRaptor's inner foot pads, (as shown here) grind down very easily, even on linoleum. I've come up with a solution to help make the pads more slippery (which is desirable) and it will help protect them from grinding down. Perhaps some of you have already thought of this. The solution is 2 to 3 coatings of........ fingernail polish. It's been working for me. Just thought I'd share my experiences with the community. See ya!

Stop the HeadBanging! Mod

So here's my idea I would like advice on: My reptile and raptor have a disturbing habit of slamming their heads repeatedly into the nearest wall, chair, bookcase, etc. This behaviour unnerves me since I care about whats in their little, lovable noggins. Sooooo. What I would like to do is add some sort of simple lever switch to the side of the head, so that when it gets pressed the raptor will stop smashing his head into the wall. The basic conceopt is identical to the way Robosapien V2's oval hand switch "collision sensors"work. Here's a quick pic of what it might look like: The exterior white part could just be a wire (maybe part of a coathanger or something)and there would be one on each side of its head. I have some simple switches that would fit in his head, but how would I interface them to the beasts electronics so they would stop his wild head swinging movement? If I could get it to work on his head, I wouldn't mind putting some on his tail too. Sometimes he gets stuck banging his tail on stuff too.

When I'm controller my raptor with the remote to walk him around, while I'm doing so, he'll stop and sniff and start to turn his direction and so on. I'm not putting him into roam mode, just trying to walk him around with the remote. Is this normal? It gets a bit annoying when I'm trying to maneuver him around and I keep having to redo moves. Also, when I have him bite, he doesn't open his mouth, just does the body move lunge. Only seems to open his mouth when his head it to the left. Something to look into? Thanks.

From anyone who owns it, do you think it's cool or can it get really boring. Also is it worth the price which I don't know. Any feedback?

Well I tried to make it a look like one, but still in the works, at least it works. Maybe will remove the small arms so it looks more cat like or maybe more Hell Cat for those like me who is a ROBOTECH fan the Invid Inorganics Cat Drones. The face is almost the same maybe will ad fangs and horn so it has more of saber tooth. But the cool thing about it that the synchnonizing or the two haves was easy. In Chapter 11 Page 149 of the (ROBOSAPIENS HACKCER'S MANUAL ) Subject Twin Robot. Personally why anyone would want to do that I don't see any practical use or function. But the circuitry and wiring for it can get two haves of a Raptor one with a head and no tail, and another no head with a tail. Joined minus the corrugated tube and for the wiring ??? Reverse the set so instead of synchronizing the front walking and functions with the rear. You reverse the circuits so as the Front right moves forward the Rear left will also, keeping Front left and Right rear stationary as the machines transitions then the operations is switched so...

I took a whack at documenting the interaction between the RSV2 and the RoboRaptor.

In a recent thread there was quite a bit of discussion regarding the (now) undocumented tracking function of the RSV2. The RoboRaptor also has this undocumented behavior buried in its cyber-reptilian brain. When the RoboRaptor sees the proper coded IR signal (no longer available as a button on the RoboRaptor Remote) it will navigate itself to where it sees that signal. It just so happens that the RoboReptile Remote's FEED button generates just the right IR signal to activate the tracking behavior. Here's a short YouTube video showing the RoboRaptor executing a turn and making a straightline for the remote in the cameraman's hands. The only control used in this video is the pressing of the RoboReptile Remote's FEED button. No other steering is being used. Press the button, and the Raptor comes on strong. Release it, and the RoboRaptor stops and sniffs the air.

I want to get a Robosapien v1 off eBay (cos I'm a cheap skate.), but i noticed i cannot trust any of those v1s there!! There are so many counterfeits!!! -- ok some sellers states the product is 'robosapien type' or 'robone' on fairness.... though there isn't much clue if the item is secondhand. Is there any tips to figure out which one is real thing among those fakes? (the fake with proper robosapien looks i mean.) Ah, I can say that in case of counterfeit Roboraptor, it's much easier to tell. But Not V1!!
