Rovio not working :(

Hi all, Im just about to throw my Rovio into the Bin. It worked perfectly a couple weeks ago and i had it powered off for about 2-3 weeks. I recently recharged it and its having some problems. - i get an orange/red led flashing at the top and then it goes away, and then the cycle repeats itself over again - i have re-setup the rovio setup with firmware v5.03. - i can connect to the rovio and use its functions i.e. move in different directions, but i get no video or audio stream. I get prompted for a username and password for the video stream but my rovio password or username gets ignored and it continously prompts me. - im connecting locally at the moment on 192.168.1.64 - Im using IE8 on Windows XP - The LED at the top used to be solid green when it worked properly for me. - it completely crashes when i use Chrome or Firefox to log in. Any ideas? Thanks
[Read more]

New(used) rovio problem

I just received a used rovio that I purchased on eBay. I downloaded the software and manual and followed the setup steps. I got the charging dock assembled and plugged in and put the rovio in place. When I pushed the power button the blue LEDs came on, blinked a few times then started pulsing every 5-10 seconds or so. This seems like what it is supposed to do. However, there is no light on the power button. Is this supposed to come on immediately? What could be wrong if it doesn't come on?

I face a problem with ROVIOâ??s programming

I face a problem with ROVIO’s programming and I need your kind help either in solving this problem or in finding a suitable solution for it. I live in an area in which its electric current is not regular. Power cuts for a long time and for several times a day. So, ROVIO’s battery cannot be full charged and sometimes cannot be charged at all. For that, I need a system amendment in which I can cancel the automatic back of ROVIO to the base when battery is empty. Example: When ROVIO is on the base and power cuts, and if battery becomes empty, the current programming makes ROVIO goes around looking for the base (which is already connected to) in order to find power supply to charge its battery. Rationally, battery gets empty before finding the base (because power is cut) and then ROVIO stays out of the base even when power is on. In this case, I’ll not be able to control ROVIO through the internet anymore unless I go to its place and put it by hand on the base.

Rovio Commander is available again. I have added a new protection scheme. Rovio Commander still uses your Rovio's MAC along with a conformation code. This conformation code scheme also checks in the code and if there are two or more Rovio's on different newtork your code will be disabled. DO NOT share your CODE, if your code is shared then it will become invalid and you will need to purchase another code. Thanks for everyones support.

Rovio not charging?

Hi Everyone, I picked my Rovio up off eBay and even though I knew I would have problems, plunged in anyway. I have searched the boards and haven't quite found my issue so thought I would quickly ask. My Rovio seems to be charging, when I log into to see it, it shows full bars, but it will not leave its dock on its own and as soon as I physically pick it up it is dead. It will not power up at all, is the battery just dead or is there something going on with the connectors? Any helps is appreciated.

Rovio Truetrack beacon alternative is working!

Hi, Just wanted to make an update after I received SLboat's compatible Rovio Beacons through Ebay. A while ago I read a post on this forum about a guy who had made his own Rovio beacons and sold them on ebay, so I wanted to give it a try. I ordered 3 of them which I received today, and tested. They work very well so far. Rovio detects them as TrueTrack beacons at once. I have tried with one of them today, so I will make an update here when I have tried with several of them in multiple rooms. It is pretty straight forward. I just used my Samsung Galaxy SIII power supply to power them up and pressed the button on the beacons (5V). You can choose which NAV number you want it to have by simply pressing the button on in the middle of the board. If you have powered up your Rovio nearby, you will see that it will change NAV number in the browser when you change NAV channel on the small board. Forexample: I chose number 7 So if other people on the forum are trying to find alternatives, these ones seems to do...

New headlight mod - no soldering required

Hello! As mentioned on some other threads, I recently purchased headlights from China. The Chinese seller didn't provide any description of how to install them, so therefore I'm writing this post so others might understand how to do this. The headlights has been discussed on this forum before - see here . See this link if you would like to buy them. In this post I will describe how to install the Rovio headlights from BuyChina.com About the headlights: The idea with this headlights is quite smart (I just didn't understand this at first). The headlights contain a LDR light sensitive sensor which dims the headlights down completely when they are left in the dark. Sounds confusing? If the LDR sensor is light flooded they will light up to max power. What I didn't understand first was this function. I thought they were assembled or soldered incorrectly until I suddenly understood the key thing. You use the stock light to light up the sensor which then lights up the leds to maximum power. If the stock light is turned off, the sensor will not recieve light and therefore the new headlights will not be lit. This means that these headlights...

Hi, I would like to install some headlights which bought from here.I have assembled all the parts together and connected them to the batteries of Rovio. There is a small circuit board between the headlights and the battery connector. On this circuit board there is a small wire which I assume is the switch.I hope this headlight can be connected so the stock headlight button in web browsers can be used to turn the headlights on and off.Can someone with?modding skills advice me on?where?to connect this?wire in order for the switch to work?

How to fix charging isssues for good. Very simple fix!!

So I want to mention special thanks to someone on this forum who suggested a fix for Rovio's charging and battery life issue. It really did work. I tried it, and I'm seeing very impressive charging and run times. So a little background info first... I've had Rovio since the fall of 2010. I wholeheartedly appreciated the concept in general, and overlooked the major issue of short battery life. But the bottom line is that to be a useful telepresence rover, the robot must be capable of sustaining power long enough to be useful and make it back to its charging station without any direct help. I tried many different things...newer batteries, batteries with more mAh hours, and even power adapters with higher voltage (stock is 8v, I experimented with 9 and 10v). While these things helped a little, it still was not quite enough to bring the battery strength up to a level that I would say I could drive my Rovio from abroad and successfully make it back to the dock. So then, what was the fix? If you open up bottom of the charging dock, you will see the simple mechanism that makes the charging prongs push...
