Hi. I recently brought a Robosapien V2 from ebay. It worked fine when it arrived,I put it away for 2x months for my sons birthday. When I gave it to him ,it wouldn't work properly. I replaced all the batteries with new ones and now it sometimes starts. When it stops it says 'I think I have a Bad Motivator' or User Error'. Can anyone help or do I buy another one for my son. Regards Mick.

Custom Painted Mini- RSV2

My RSV2 is the black and silver variant, so when I picked up a second mini-RSV2 in the standard white and black colors, I knew I needed to repaint it. First, the dissasembly. I decided the easist path was to start all black, and add the silver. The exception to that was the head, which already had a significant amount of the proper parts in silver. I washed everything with rubbing alcohol to remove dust and grease, and to have it dry quickly. I protected the head and motor in a bag, and sprayed the rest gloss black. Here's the intermediate result. I hand painted the black on the head, and the silver where needed.

I need Help! I was wondering if anyone out there had any suggestions. My Robosapien V2's hands NEVER open, this is straight out of the box!. Anytime his hands should open (bowling ball, pin, high grab, low grab, hand shake, etc.) they stay clenched. His arms work, they reach out correctly, his hands just simply never open. He will try twice everytime and both times utters either "retrieval error, I give up!" or "grip feedback error, I give up!". I'm pretty sure he's defective but want to make sure i'm not doing something wrong. I'd rather it's be a user error them having to have him replaced. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Brain battery low problem...

I picked up a grey Robosapian model V2 for $25 on craigslist a little over a year ago. It has been working fine since then and entertains my 3 year old quite a bit. The other day it said "brain battery low, powering down". OK I thought, time for some new batteries. I replaced all D and AAA including the transmitter with new Duracell batteries. Turned it back on and he worked for about a minute then gave me the same error message and shut down again. OK another set of all new batteries and I cleaned the battery contacts with electrical contact cleaner. Turned him back on and after a minute the same thing happened. He has not been dropped (my 3 year old won't touch it, just likes to watch it from a distance) and all other features work perfectly for the 60-90 seconds after I turn him on till he powers down with the brain battery notification. I searched this forum but could not come up with any answers, so I thought I would post a thread in he hopes that one of you kind people might help me out. Thanks :)

Repairs after fixing wiring?

Hi - let me start by saying thanks to everyone posting solutions on here. I've been able to learn so much about the RS-V2's in just a couple of nights reading this and some of the other forums. I bought a bunch of faulty RS-V2's on ebay for £20 - I figured I could learn a thing or two about how they are put together! When I collected them I ended up coming away with 14 RS-V2', 4 raptors, a quad, a homer sapien and a RC K9 (from Doctor WHO). A pretty good deal! Here's a picture... Luckily I got one good one for reference and so know what he should do. Now to work out what's wrong with some of the others... The very first one I've opened had the crumbling wire problem on the battery wires, which I've taped up with electricians tape. This has fixed the problem where he would turn to the left and freeze - however it seems that the short has fried the transistors for his lower left arm as it will turn one way, but not the other (By shorting 9v to RE+/- ) I know the motor is good as disconnecting...

Hello all! Ive read many posts on this forum about the problem of bad wire insulation in some RSV2. Yesterday, I finally found me a good lookin' RSV2 to buy. It was a really good price because it was lost on the companies storage for some months and when they found it again they put it out for sale for approx 71 USD. (Toys 'R Us in Sweden) I got to test it out for about 10 minutes at the store and fell in love in a split second. I bought it right off and went back home. Then I played with it for like 30 minutes when it told me the brainbatteries where low.. and yeah.. "shutting down". Then I put some new fresh batteries in it and it started up just as before. But in its initializing sequence it repeated itself 2 times "initializing...".."initializing...", but it responded to my stop and walk command. I turned it off and put it on again. This time it wasnt responding at all. After about 10 tries with only starring blue eyes it worked again.. for 3 minutes :( I checked the batteries (for the 6th time or something) and the left...

Recently, on an episode of Modern Marvels on the History Channel, our beloved Robosapien V2 got some camera time! The segment highlighted Steven Jones's gadget museum , which includes RSV2. Robosapien V2 was shown before the transition to the next scene, which discusses robotics. Here's a link to the episode on the History Channel website , which aired last week. Did any of you get a chance to see it? Also, you can check out individual collector's museums over at TechLore.com . If you're curious, I've posted some technology museums of my own. Have fun, Pete

Hey I know this post is a bit later from the last but I am ready to get rid of the other V2. This one is all together. The breast plate wont come off because one of the screws is wack. The neck makes a cracking sound when it turns but it looked to me like a minor issue but I dont have room for it. I am willing to send it to someone at a fair price. I can post a picture of it if you would like me to. I got it right beside me.
