Hello Wowwee! I would like to urge WowWee to consider creating a Version 2 of the RoboQuad. In my opinion RoboQuad is the best robot WowWee has made, other than RoboSapien. I believe Quad has the unique charm and personality that can continue to enchant people and thus could become a welcome staple in the Wowwee line of robots (and a consistent moneymaker for Wowwee). RoboQuad deserves a place in WowWee's continuing robot line because he/she/it is the only product that WowWee has that is really nothing more than a robot. It doesn't pretend to be a person, dinosaur, Elvis, or an annoying party friend. WowWee Robotics needs to have at least ONE true robot in its line. RoboQuad is very popular here on the boards and, I think, with a version 2 with cool,sexy, new features ( that do not detract from his original beeping, inquisitive charm) he could become something of a mascot for WowWee's Robotics line. So, If anyone agrees and would like to see a Roboquad V2, please say so below. Feel free to offer ideas on new features too. I think it would be interesting to have a robot that can find burried treasure! Let it lose in a park and it will automatically drive around and stop when a metallic object is there. A more advanced robot would actually dig for the object! Well it would probably be able to dig only a few inches deep and in soft soil. It might even have a small tray that removes the dirt and leaves the coins or other objects found. It might need you to control it to dig up those things however. Mainly because it could try digging up the wrong object. It could be quite fun if it included a camera so you can sit in a lounge chair while you go on coin hunting expeditions. Range, capabilities, and battery life would be the big factors here. I would like it if it lasted a good few hours and had a range of a good 100 yards. Currently i have a headmount headlight for RQ on this connector style and a telescopic super magnet so he can collect my screws i drop lol and my shocklance (in Progress) another idea was mount on the front near the animation led so that accessories protrude out far enough that he can use them with out tripping his sensors but eitherway the device will be published on here very soon by me complete with pics ....... The Conical shape of the reflectors allow him to walk on soft surfaces (sand etc) without sinking into it, and also allows for more agility in his walk so he turns etc better and can walk over obsticals better too the best bit is if the pads become uneven take him on cement and they will re-wear to be aligned correctly again depending on what you mainly make rq do of course. ill try to get you guys some photos of the feet pads and my modded quad. It was on the old mac computers about a decade ago I remember using it in primary school. It was like Microsoft Word except the computer would read out what you typed and it had a whole heap of different strange voices to choose from, it was great. Anyway how good would it be if you could type a bunch of phrases or whatever on your computer then transfer it to your robot for it to say or maybe use as responses when it hears something that you've recorded or something like that. I think that would really customise your robot so that they wouldn’t all say the same things because that can get really old really quick and you could maybe choose from a list of what it will talk like. Think of the possibilities, they’re endless. Anyway I hope someone from WowWee reads this and takes note of the idea and maybe when the Robosapien V3 comes out it will have this feature. I find that the directional nature of the IR controller a bit limiting. I quite like the idea of getting a live video feed from RS media and being able to control him from the PC. I wish robodance would support the RS media! Using WiFi you could harness the power of a much larger processor to do all the AI, face recognition etc. and with audio streaming and txt to voice conversion he could have an unlimited vocabulary! I'd like to offer a few suggestions for Wowee and get the community's opinion on this. I would like to see Wowee offer expansion kits for the RS Media. These could be voice recognition for users to install, or a new lower leg assembly with motorized knees so it walks better. The kits would be complete with written step by step instructions with photos and diagrams, plastic parts that may be needed, and a wiring harness with new electronic boards. They would be designed to be installed as easily as possible with no soldering. This way, the RS Media would be continually upgraded. With enough upgrades, the end user could have a complete service manual and trouble shooting guide along with the upgrades. It could be a win - win for Wowee and the end user.
