It was a usual day. I went to load a game demo. It was Super Pop&Drop. But it was not just a demo, it was a whole game. Now, 6000 levels later, I wonder when this is gonna end and why this happened to me. What is your obsession?

I really have had a bad history with Air Hog. I have two of their products. 1 old air powered jet plane that still works ok i think. 2 havoc heli laser battle havocs. My problem lies in the helis. I hadn't had them that long and I was having a lot of fun with them when the cheap material (apparently) started ripping at the bottom on the red one. Now it only spins out of control and no matter how much I tape it, doesn't help. Please tell me your feelings on Air Hog or if you can, any ideas to help me fix my coptor. Thanks and have fun!

Hello all, I just uploaded a brand new video for Halloween. It shows my Robosapien RS Media robot dressed up like Darth Vader and operationg a real working Nerf 'N' Strike machine gun as he tries to wipe out the Rebel base. For some reason Wall-e is at the Rebel Base, I have no idea why! (Note the machine gun really works! It shoots 3 shots per second and there are 25 foam Nerf darts per ammo belt). If you ever wanted to see a Muppet with a Light Sabre then this is your chance! :)

CodeWeavers, the guys who make snazzy versions of WINE (to run Windows apps and GAMES on Linux or Mac) have unlocked, freely downloadable versions of their stuff up today. http://down.codeweavers.com/ Apparently they'd said before (something to the effect of) "If Bush gets gas prices below 2.79 we'll give away our software". Well, it happened, and there's the free (today only) downloads! I won't get to it today, but I figure to see if the RSMedia suite works with it, as well as the Rovio utilities (it'd be handy to be able to restore without a windows machine!).

Halloween will be Terminated

As is now a 4 year "tradition", my 1:1 terminator statue will reappear this year for Halloween. This year I am adding some animatronic motions to it. At least, I'm working on adding them, and am making good progress on my low tech mechanisms. This is definitely a low cost project that will benefit greatly from being on display in dim light. The endoskull got a makeover this evening, to give it a more ominous look. A chrome bumper from a scrapped toy car was cut up to fashion eyebrows and the bridge of the nose. My WowWee Alive Chimp is also scheduled to help hand out candy. I've fashioned a sort of pudgy body for it, and will have it close enough to the inside of the door so that it will react when the door is opened.

Greetings, all, Has anyone been seeing a general messed-up-ness of the web today? So far I can't load slashdot or several other of my usuals. Gmail loads one time in seven. Google.com times out. I can't even load my ISP's "portal" thingy to check status/news/whatever (charter.net, although their sell-you-something site works fine). RoboCommunity works just fine :) Anyone know anything?

I am here by telling you that the best way to learn TF history is here, the present 1997 author wrote an accuarte document. http://www.eyrie.net/UF/FI/morethan.txt There is a ton of history on this topic which is Transformers, and I have self created a TF character since 2007 I originally named Frenzy. This character has history to her as well. She's 25' 4'' in height and is extremely brillient. She ventures through the valleys and cities often. She finds artifacts in the stores of sorts where others have been and looked, even the famous ones, before her time. She not only lived on the planet, Asortion, a planet that existed before Cybertron was discovered where she was born. She knows the land like the back of her hand and now realizes that she has another interest, the new planet she learn of to be named as simply Earth. She has even found a frozon artifacts set in animation that maybe the only pure one of it's kind and is still worth lots. She has considered freeing the herself form the state disorder and confusion when she was a whole lot younger between her adolecence,, but is still debating it rather to...

(I first named it 'unfinished projects' but I think this is a better title!) For me, the list of projects includes (but is not limited to) Twin cylinder live steam engine (partially machined, from scratch) Mech warrior (only have 4 servos so far) see Mech Wars forum at Trossen Ore boat in ~HO scale (Daniel Morrell) Puritan racing sloop (finishing stages of sewing sails) RSMedia: import music and video to RickRoll upon motion detection for Halloween Robopanda: create Darth Panda personality for custom cartridge with Seviks help RepRap: build a desktop rapid prototyper or 3d printer Thanks to Rudolph, I remembered a few others! PHP/mySQL web project(s) learn Flash/AS3 (this is going OK actually) BTW, I'm Scott too and I probably would be diagnosed with ADHD 1 wife :: 2 boys :: 2 cats :: 2 rodents :: >6 fish :: >12 robots :: >6 hobbies

It seems I am not the only one around here that has that "distraction" bug that causes you to start up new projects before finishing old ones. What do the expersts here do to keep themselves focused on a project to completion? Usually for me, it is getting paid (lol) but I would like to get the discipline to focus for myself. I think, also, the level of interest in what I am doing from others seems to drive me as well. Maybe we should start a "Robotoholics Annonymous" support group to keep prodding and encouraging each other to finish our projects? LOL Anyone else want to vent?

Halloween Costume

It's that time of year again, to figure out just what my son is talking about when he describes the halloween costume he wants to wear. He wants to be a robot, and tonight we all agreed upon a Bender-inspired look (easy to build, and makes the kid happy!). His main concern seemed to be that he wanted a couple of buttons on it. No problem, kiddo. Naturally that got me thinking... He doesn't know it yet, but his costume will house my Arduino. Here's the list so far; Blinky Lights (surprise) Requested buttons (probably lights on/off) Couple of slider-style variable resistors (change blinkiness and/or brightness of lights) Working analog panel meter (possibly battery level? could be random twitchiness) (possibly) 4x20 LCD display (depending on how many pins are left) (possibly) a motor or two, if I can figure out what to move with them... Anyone have any ideas on other tidbits that would put this thing even farther overbuilt? I'm not going to put any sound in it since he still has to go to school that day and do "real" work.
