FlyTech Dragonfly VS. Hawk: The WowWee Video Challenge

On behalf of WowWee, we'd like to extend a challenge to anyone who has captured their FlyTech Dragonfly being snatched up in mid-air by surprise! But first, some background information... You may or may not have heard about poor Danny McGorry's electronic insect. A local red-tailed hawk from his town in Long Island simply couldn't hold back on swooping down on his new holiday toy, and attacked his Dragonfly. I guess it was the "Hawk that stole Christmas!" Turns out, we heard from WowWee that they have been receiving a number of service calls about this same issue - there have been several "Dragonfly Vs. Hawk" incidents! How to Enter the FlyTech Dragonfly VS. Hawk Challenge We would love to see members of our community submit their "Hawk VS. Dragonfly" videos. And don't worry, if you did manage to catch the event on film, WowWee will be happy to replace your Dragonfly with a brand new one. All you need to do is send your video submission to videos@robocommunity.com. You can utilize a service such as YouSendIt to do this. Videos must be sent directly to this email address to qualify.

Evolution Robotics and Wowwee

http://smart-machines.blogspot.com/2007/10/evolution-robotics-and-wowwee-join.html I found this article by chance while looking up robot snakes on YouTube. The Aibo's object recognition was even used as part of an advanced research project : http://staff.science.uva.nl/~fjseins/isis/aibodemo.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lr2bhCOo0-4&eurl=http://smart-machines.blogspot.com/ ">http://smart-machines.blogspot.com/">... High cost killed off the Aibo, if Wowwee will be able to combine (relatively) low cost with this capability - the possibilities are just mind boggling.

Hi folks, I'm just getting back into hacking Robosapien after 2 and a half years out. I first hacked my RSV1 back in late 2004 and he's been gathering dust while optimistically holding his replacement switch waiting for the day I fire up my soldering iron and get him operational again. With Christmas on the way I laid down some heavy hints that I'd like a Roboquad and I'm in the process of researching so I can get off to a flying start when I get him/it. Hop over to my profile to see a list of what mods I've done to RSV1 or alternatively visit my website at http://www.markcra.com where theres photos and details of my past mods and circuit diagrams of RSV1's main board. Oh and a big wave to anyone I may have known over on the robosapien.tk forums where I was known as MarkC. Cheers Mark

RSV2 apparently has some anger issues to work out. His contact routine lead to bit of a chair pummeling fit. In another outtake, I learned it's not necessarily a good idea to give your robot a big freakin' knife to play with.

What to choose, Robosapien, Roboraptor or Roboraptile

Hi guys! Here's a fan of your toys calling in from the Netherlands. Finally some of the wowwee products are beeing sold over here, and I'm interested in purchasing one. Now the problem is, I dont know which one to choose! There are 3 possible candidates at the local store: - Robopet, 30,- euros - Robosapien, 50,- euros - Roboraptor, 80,- euros - Roboreptile, 100,- euros Now i'm wondering. Are these price differences ok compared to the US ones? If you would just look at the prices, you would say the Roboreptile is the most advanced robot out of these 3. But as far as I can tell, the Robosapien seems to be the one with the most sensors and options. Still I prefer to get myself a dino type of bot. So my questions really are: Which one of these robots contain the most options, and will have more stuff to play with? And when you take a look at both the Raptor and Reptile, why is the Reptile more expensive then the Raptor? Thanks a lot for your time! Cheers
