Hey guys you may have read in my previous thread that i purchased an Isobot that i wasn't happy with so i started an auction on ebay to sell it but no one bought it. So i realized i was well in the 30 day return period to get a refund from WowZzers.com, but the problem is i shipped the Isobot this past monday there getting it on friday, however i can't get in touch with anyone at WowZzers.com or their affiliate company JPR Trading via email or telephone and i've tried many times. I put a copy of my receipt in the box and wrote on there that i'd like either a refund to my paypal account or a replacement with the RSV2, i've said the same in the email i've sent, but it's been 3 days of constant emails and phone calls and no answer from them at all. Now since i foolishly already shipped them back the Isobot without confirming my refund or exchange, i'm forced to rely on them honoring their return policy listed on their site. Does anyone here have a good rep with this site or another way of contacting them because i'd feel...

First off, I would like to thank everyone here because I have been browsing this forum for a couple of weeks and it made me jump into buying a RS V2. I got him for like $62.00 dollars new on ebay, only I think it was like the first one out, it still has the green light on the controler, hes still awsome. Anyways, I was thinking about getting a RS Media. Is it really worth having both? Should I just go with another robot like roboquad, or I-sobot, or anything else.

Yeah you guy's read it right, i'm selling my Isobot, why ? i'll tell ya', well first of all it turns out that constantly pushing buttons on a remote for mere seconds of movement get's old really fast, and not to mention that Robodance 4 software is not made for Macs. So i thought i'd offer it to you guys first before starting an ebay auction tonight. Now all of you know that i've only had the Isobot for 3 days and i still have all the original packaging it came in so i'll just ask for $180.00 including shipping. For those who are interested let me know and enclose your email address and i'll respond with my paypal info. Now i'll wait until tonight to start the ebay auction so that still gives those of you who might be interested about 5 or 6 hours so let me know guys, oh and i'm sorry but since i'm including the shipping with this already lower offer i can't ship outside the U.S. Those who are curious what i'll be purchasing next, well i think it'll be one of my original considerations a new Robosapien V2. So think it over guy's...

So, I love my I-cybies. I have 2 now: 1 blue and 1 gold. Since I got them I have been searching high and low for the expansion cartridge and programmer that came out, but with no luck. It seems to be quite rare. RetroPlayer's Elvis cartridge hack got me thinking... I wondered if I could somehow make my own expansion cart. I googled around and after many hours discovered a spanish website with lots of interesting info about the cartridge. Unfortunately, the Google translation of the page leaves something to be desired. You can see it here, if you are curious: http://www dot 3drogue dot com/translate_c.htm (replace the word "dot" with actual ".") last time I posted a link, i got spammed all to hell, so I will try it this way. Anyway, I-cybie came with a "dummy" cartridge in its expansion slot. I was lead to believe it was of no interest, so i never really looked at it beyond taking it out and putting it back in. Last night however, I got curious. I took it out of cybie and removed its little screws. Inside I found the actual PCB for the real cart! It looks like...

Hello everybody :)) We have some threads about hacking something (robopanda, elvis, etc). But now interesting question arrives: we have some dumps of cartridges, firmwares, some info about inner workings of things, but can we post it on RoboCommunity? As I understand when buying Elvis or Robopanda we dont sign any explicit contract with restrictions for reverse engineering, decompilation, etc... And there are no copyright notices in cartridge and flash images... So question is - can we do it and post it there ? Are there generic laws in US/EU which prohibit such activity?

What's holding back robots is perception - you have machines that can physically do just about anything, but what's lacking is object recognition. And the problem for that is really just a matter of marketing current technology (machine learning techniques such as neural networks) so that more people use them. I'd like to see a marketplace for perception tasks created. Basic Premise ************** Small companies/individuals to start producing small fragments of functionality and offering it in a per for use basis. (as in a cat recognizer in an image, or a recognizer for the word "hello" in an audiofile). To create the above recognizer would require gathering data (such as hundreds/thousands of pictures of cats) and feeding it to a supervised learning algorithm like svm, boosting etc. Thousands (perhaps millions) of people creating their own "classifiers" and charging for them (perhaps 1000 uses for 1 dollar) over the web might lead rapidly to seeing/thinking machines. The Surveillance/Video Analytics Industry (as an initial example) ****************************************** Person detectors already exist, used in surveillance, but it's mostly out of the reach of consumers, analogous to the situation that exists between enterprise software like SAP/Oracle and consumer/small business software such that you find on...

Our friends at Hackaday have uncovered a new television show that will air on the Discovery Channel, entitled "Prototype This!" The plans are for it to launch on October 15, 2008. The show stars four expert geeks, and will showcase the building of robots and other projects, ala Mythbusters. Will you tune in to watch this show? Or do you think it will end up being lame, or not truly representing the robot hacker community? Let us know how you feel. [Via Hackaday]

We were there tonight and picked up a Tyco NSECT for my son for a whopping $17. With the tiny charge in the battery that it came with we've already had seventeen bucks worth of entertainment. Think I'll go back tomorrow and get another one (on the other frequency). edit == forgot I don't have to type the html link out

I pick this up off hackaday . Its a site where you can take control of a small mobile robot, and drive it around a course. Apparently they are solar powered, so only usable during the day (here in Australia). Also, since its just been listed on an extremely popular site, the queue is 150 people long with a wait time of 2 1/2 hours to take control of one of the little guys. Aparetly the little guys are modified Surveyor SRV1 , which look pretty interesting just by themselves.
