Harmony Remote, Can it learn how to woo my Femi

Hey all! I am new here and with a new Femisapien. And well now a used (And smoke wreaking) RS1 (for the remote of course) and I had a question. In my house I have two different generations of Harmony remotes. If you are familiar with these guys they are "Smart remote" and are suppose to be able to "learn" how to control any IR device. I know I can map a lay out strictly from the RS1 remote, but I didn't know if anyone had experimented with Harmony remotes. They have a built in LCD screen for customize buttons and hell you could probably small routines in there. Any suggestions? Should this be in the mod section? anyways thank you all I hope to learn and share a lot with you all.

Why Doesn't Roboquad Work With Remote Control?

Hello Fellow Forum Members I have a friend who has Roboquad troubles. He claims his Roboquad will turn on but won't take command from the remote. My first thought was, well could this be a counterfeit unit. I know I've read articles about Wowwee customer service claiming, that other people tried to copy the Wowwee design. This would make the IR encoding different so that the Roboquad will not work with a Wowwee brand remote. It also came to mind that his head wires might be unplugged, being that IR receiver is located in the top of the Roboquads head. The batteries are all new. The Roboquad appears to be in good condition, no signs of abuse. So I'm looking for your input. What might the problem be?

Roboquad cannot detect table edges.

Many have claimed that roboquad can detect table edges. So the other day I performed a test to see if this is really true. Under very close supervision, (so roboquad would not fall and get damaged!), I intiated the walk forward command, and put roboquad on my kitchen table. I observed closing what would happen as he walked toward the edge. I gently took roboquad in my arms at the tables edge, as he was totally unable to detect the table ledge. My test was conslusive. Roboquad should be kept on the floor, He cannot detect table ledges. I've seen a many people end up with a broken roboquad because they leave their quad free roaming on a table. Not cool.

For the past 2 months (with some big breaks in between), I have been working on an application named RS Media Manager. Right now it's limited to the "Live Control" section. It allows you to control most of RS Media's functions and even take a video, photo or audio recording, as well as tell him to track a certain color, all from a PC. More info on the final release here: http://www.robocommunity.com/forum/thread/16842/RS-Media-Manager-Coming-Soon/ If you'd like to test it out, just get it from the downloads section . Feel free to drop in your thoughts (and problems) into the comments.

RS Media Manager Preview

Hello all, This is a huge step for the RS Media robot! Vader is making alot of progress on his program RS Media Manager... It has come along very well, and I have recorded a video and uploaded is to my server to show you how good he is going with RS Media Manager. Vader will hopefully release a beta of RS Media Manager to the public in about a week. :) Seems I can't embed a video in the thread, I have to embed it in the next comment, so please check the next comment for the video! Give ALL credit to Vader (my brother)! I didn't make it at all, I've just been constantly testing it. So give Vader all credit for making this wonderful program! Cheers, Jamie Kugelmann

Wonky V2

This is more of a log than anything, although I'm sure there will be a question or two scattered about. I recently acquired a V2 with the crumbling leg wire problem (cheers, rokitjon!). I've now got all the funky wires swapped out, one at a time, with a map drawn for each leg. Turned out some of the neck wires have been pinched too, possibly to the point of disconnection (multimeter session will commence after this post). So far it's not powering up properly, or at all most of the time. Most of the power ons result in absolutely nothing. One time out of eight it'll say "Self diagnostic initiated" but the last 4 syllables become distorted and crackly. There is no eye flicker or motor movement at all. At this point all I've verified is the presence of 6V and 9V on the brain and motor boards (using Nocturnal's references ). A visual inspection of the boards doesn't show me anything that's obviously smoked, not that that really means anything. All in all this should be an entertaining project. If all else fails I'll have a good pile of GM series motors to build other robots out of ;)...
