By now those who still even have the i-Que Personal Robot (see my avatar) may start experiencing the robot not running long on a full charge, or not working at all. This of course depends on how much you've used it.
The battery pack in the i-Que seems rather obscure but it really is a standard R/C Car/Robot/Security Battery! They are also easy to find.
Do a search on Amazon.com, eBay or Google for:
"Tenergy 9.6V 2000 mAh NiMH High Capacity Battery".
The part # is B001BA292A.
I have personally tested one of these in my i-Que and it charges up (you want to charge it for 5 hours at minimum before running the bot) and he runs just fine. I haven't determined yet how long the battery will last per charge. However, the original was 1300 mAh so it lasted around 1.3 hours on a full charge when new. This one I expect to get around 2 hours on a full charge when new.
A couple tips:
1. Be sure the robot is set to "OFF" before replacing the battery pack.
2. Be sure to lift the little tab a little (be careful not to break it off) on the robot connector and then you may need to push good (be careful not too hard) to get the battery connector to go in. It will fit. Then let the tab down over the little part sticking up on the battery connector. You'll see when you replace the battery.
3. Be sure the robot is in "SLEEP" mode before you set him on the charging dock. It's best NOT to turn him to "ON" after you install a new battery but before charging. Also he does not charge when in "OFF" position.
4. Charge the battery for at least 5 hours before you use the robot again. Though he may not finish charging after 5 hours. If is probably a good idea to wait until he fully charges (his green light on the face will stop blinking). I had run the robot after 5 hours of charging but before it was done charging and he ran pretty good.
I hope this helps folks who have an i-Que and were thinking of getting rid of it if the battery doesn't work. These Tenergy batteries are good and will get your bot going again. You may even want to pick up two or three. They are under US $20 at most places! Those overseas will need to contact individual sellers for prices and shipping.
