Over the last year or so some very exciting progress has been made regarding Rovio and some extremely gifted people have contributed to these forums, selflessly posting their hours of unpaid work for us all to see and benefit from.
However, outstanding as these threads are, it has become difficult to view them all, as well as being replicated in many different threads, forms and posts and clearly lacking any real co-ordination - which is clearly not possible on a forum style site.
After some discussion a few members have suggested the possibility of a community, Wiki/SourceForge/Github style resource that could supplement our fantastic Robocommunity forums by attempting to place all of our combined resources together into one open source project, providing a place where all Rovio owners can go for resources - from complete novice how to's, to software and hardware development.
To be absolutely clear, this is in no way a replacement of the invaluable role that the RoboCommunity Rovio forums play and will continue to play in the development & understanding of Rovio itself, in fact our hope is that RoboCommunity will always have an important role in guiding members to this open resource.
A new Sourceforge project example has been started here
After you have opened a Sourceforge account please PM me for free access (administrator, developer, member) details - when & if required.
SourceForge can provide different areas for collaboration from firmware development to adding ancillary hardware such as DIY beacons.
At this stage, this is still an idea and all views and contributions are very much required so please post your thoughts and ideas!
