First of all, hi forum.
I'm new at this forum but i find a lot of interesting information on my rovio.
My rovio has 10 days of life, so i'm very new to rovio so.
I write an application, the first release, for testing rovio programming.

The application is programmed in QT4, i use this programming for the first time a week ago so the application is not complete but for me it work great.
I use QT4 because i have a linux pc and my goal is to make an interface on linux.

if someone is interested on testing it, i compiled it for linux and for windows too.

Startup screen

Connected screen (sorry, at the moment no confirmation on connect establish)

I implement resolution change, quality change, keyboard control, set home, go home, send mail, light on/off.

I implement drive speed and turn speed

I implement brightness with patch and contrast.

I hope someone try it and give me a feedback.

I knok that the application is very limited if compared the others i find on the download area.

I hope to make happy some linux users.

Ok.... ummmm... quick question... How do you run this? I tried using ./ROVIO-1.1 but it said 'permission denied', so I ran sudo ./ROVIO-1.1 and it said 'command not found'. As far as I could tell, the QT4 libraries are installed on my Ubuntu 10.4 system...

I compiled with qt4 in ubuntu 10.4.

For me it run clicking on rovio-1.1 via file manager or in a shell with ./ROVIO-1.1

for the version 1.0 instead, i need to go to the directory and launch ./ROVIO because the icons was not embedded and by filemaneger it load but without icons.

have you tried to sudo chmod 777 ?

i don't have root right. i don't know...

for compiling i installed qt4creator via synaptic, if you want you can also try this.

I'm sorry but this is my first program in QT and i don't have experience to give you the right support

i'm working on another release, faster and i'm trying to integrate QT with Open computer vision for object tracking...

No need to 'chmod 777', just needs executable, not write perms. Try "chmod +x ROVIO*", then it should run (should change it to 755).

I keep getting "error while loading shared libraries: libQtMultimedia.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory", even though I can plainly see that libqt4-multimedia is installed and the file is right there in /usr/lib. How annoying...

Watch out, don't step in the anthropomorphization.

Maybe it was a problem of my compilation, it was in debug mode for linux version. this is the link at the application compiled in release mode that i try on others pc with ubuntu 9 and fedora core ad run currectly.

ROVIO-1.1 Linux Release

Still getting the "no such file" thing. Think it may be because I'm trying it on a 64 bit computer? I'll try it on a 32 bit Ubuntu tomorrow anyway.

I'm not used to this 64 bit thing. Random stuff just doesn't work anymore...

Watch out, don't step in the anthropomorphization.

Doh! I knew that... I'm getting that same error as well, now that I have correctly set +x.

Tried it on a 32 bit Ubuntu 9.10 install and got the same error. That machine is about to be updated to 10.4 so I'll give it some more effort after that is done.

On the 64 bit machine I even tried installing qtcreator ("apt-get install qtcreator") and its dependencies but I still got that same error.

Watch out, don't step in the anthropomorphization.

Good work!

I tried to use in Windows. The file mingwm10.zip is missing. After I searched and installed that file (put to the same folder), the window can show up with the GUI. Looks great!

However as my Rovio is not here now, I have not tested the function.

BTW, would you mind change it to an open source one?
