I figure I'll give it a shot, but I'm not expecting much. Of course it depends on what time it's on too, if it's opposite "Bones" they're outta luck :)

Our friends at Hackaday have uncovered a new television show that will air on the Discovery Channel, entitled "Prototype This!"
The plans are for it to launch on October 15, 2008. The show stars four expert geeks, and will showcase the building of robots and other projects, ala Mythbusters.
Will you tune in to watch this show? Or do you think it will end up being lame, or not truly representing the robot hacker community? Let us know how you feel.

Funny you mention Bones, that is one of my favorite shows at the moment. Honestly, it's actually one of the only few shows I actually care about!
The reason I found the announcement of this show interesting is that I am mentally comparing it to Mythbusters. I've always been a little disappointed with that show... I think it gets really watered down, they draw out the stunts and over-dramatize things, and I just don't think that they're as funny or entertaining as they think they are!
Again, that's just my opinion, of course! I think that this show will do well with their target audience if they focus much more on the scientific angle rather than dumbing it down for the masses.

Bones and House are about the only two TV shows I watch anymore. The TV is usually on (usually animal planet, one of the discovery channels, or cartoons) but we're always doing something else besides watching.
Agreed on Mythbusters. Part of me died a little the first time I heard them say "our insurance won't let us...". Then when they added the B team things (like intelligence) just went downhill from there. I don't tune it in on purpose any longer, though I will half-watch if it happens to be on.

I'll give it a look see, but I also don't have my hopes up.
I used to enjoy Junkyard Wars. The mindset that you can make what you need from stuff other people throw away rings my bell.
I put MythBusters well above SmashLab, which is generally weak on concept and implementation.

I'll second that Mr. Scott. The show has potential but we'll see... And yeah, I miss Junkyard Wars so much! That was the coolest show. It still airs sometimes on the science channel but of course I don't have that in my cable package. Oh well.

I keep forgetting about Junkyard Wars. Yes, that's available here in OZ. But House? I LOVE the show but we get about 3 or 4 new episodes then have to wait 3 months for the rest of the series. Same with NCIS. This year started off well but...it's now August!
I'll be on the look out for Prototype This.
I started with 2 robots but before I knew it, well, it's a disease I tell you.

I agree MythBusters is a bit weak, but all the clone shows (Including Smash Labs) are worse. I used to love watching Junkyard Wars, but I haven't seen it in quite a while.
:) I don't watch House or NCIS (or Bones) on 10, I download the episodes off the net after they Air in the US.
I'll have my DVR set up so I don't miss out on bones or house.. hehe your right N what happened to junkyard wars that was one of my favorites..
