I didn't know "follow me" was a feature. Does it work by tracking the remote? If so the range is probably pretty short and a direct line of sight needs to be in place between the IR transmitter on the remote and the receiver on the Tri-bot.

The imaginary mazes is just remembering the moves. Left, Right, Forward etc. Kind of like that game simon (from the 80's remember?) but with directions instead of colors.

using the home function is like the follow me function as long as you move around he will track you down until he finds you. Also the maze game is more a memory game beause you have to remember what movements he has done. I love the mind field game although I keep blowing him up hehehehe

frenzy go here at my article. you can also view the gallery as well, if you need diffrent shots let me know:

well the Alarm mode is like an egg timmer that only has 12 min. so it's not like a real clock alarm. you can program him with the program mode and better yet if you have a RoboRemote you can really put the moves on with the Tri-Bot and other WowWee bots running at the same time. He is alot of fun to play with but this will come to an end this weekend because I'm ripping him down for an article then I'm adding some hacks to him all that will be posted on R/C only. I'm going to have a video of him shortly after I install a video camera on him so keep an eye out for that one.

frenzy said: Oh, a video, how neat. I dislike the idea of taking Tri-bot apart.

Well don't worry he will be put back togeather with a few mods to him. One must open up a robot to make it more advanced or to add diffrent features like a complete AI system so it can think for it's self. But then again this is what I do with most of my bots and to help others do the same incase they are not working and how to repair them. I might have that video posted tonight, we'll see what happens when you can drive him like your inside of him. I think that will be fun to do...

The homing function does not work really well. He doesn't know when he is home and says he is home when he is very far away. That's one of the few big faults with Tribot that annoy me.

Games take getting used to. It wasn't until I actually read the manual that I found out Tri-bot makes different noises when nearer to mines and how to interpret them. The noises help give you reminders of his path he showed you.

The pattern game is too easy. Just repeating the movements he did.

The Maze Game is a bit harder. No beeping to help you like in the minefield game, and the sequence is much longer than the pattern game. I find it the hardest of all the games.

Overall I'm satisfied but I state again there is no problem with your Tri-bot if the homing function is faulty. It really isn't that efficient.

The homing function uses an infrared signal. If you you point it at a highly reflective surface like a white wall, and Tri-Bot looks at the wall, then even if the wall is far away from you Tri-Bot will think (incorrectly) the signal is close since it is bouncing off the wall, making him think he found you. Imagine a line extending straight out the infrared LED on the remote and parallel with the angle that at which you are holding the remote; like an invisible light saber extending from the transmission LED of the remote control. Then point it at the floor near his wheels, on the side of him that is closest to you.
