thats cool
For anyone interested in reading a general review and dissasembly of the new Tri-Bot, I've done a write up here. If your just interested in seeing what is inside Tri-Bot I suggest you skip to page 4.
I take praise in the form of crisp $50 bills. Criticism can go in my "Inbox" or as its also known, the trash bin.

Fewer motors, with the implied more complex mechanical linkages to do everything with less, does not necessarily equate to lower development and manufacturing costs.
On the other hand, the lack of any arm motion... now that's a cut corner that should also cut cost. Poseable joints, that stay where you put them but can't move by themselves, are a feature of action figures, not robotics.

Nice work Nocturnal, As always a very good write up, But a frustrating robot to get into by the look of it.
People yearn after this robotic dream, but you can't strip your life of all meaning, emotion and feeling and expect to function.

Great write up and pictures Nocturnal.
Q. I do not know if I missed it in the artical, but does TRIBOT have a volume control?
rybuger1 said: Only one motor moves the head? Tribot should be $50, not $100!
One motor, to move multiple pieces (ie, hatch, ears, eyebrows), is to my mind a greater feat of engineering than using 1 motor to move each piece.
Yes Tri-Bot has volume control, it has high, medium and low settings. You change the volume by smacking him on the head when he's not doing something. He starts outs with high volume. At least thats what I recall the manual saying.
Well done Nocturnal. I like your style. Did you manage to get him back together or is that not part of the plan?
I started with 2 robots but before I knew it, well, it's a disease I tell you.

*Laughs* Yes he's back together, no parts left over, and I'm almost positive that I got most of the screws back in the correct places.
Having lots of reference photos helps things.
Yee hah! Well done.

Thanks for info.
Wow all back together, that must be just as hard as getting all apart!!!
Thanks for info. Looking at the Tribot I have. I would say that the first items that will need replacing in the near future will be the soft black rollers in the wheel assembly. Luckily this looks to be one of the easier disassembling functions. Now I wonder if Wow Wee is going to sell these as spare parts considering the multiple bots that will use them (Tribot,Mr. Personality).
Good point. I hope they do sell them as spares. For your sake.
