what kind of shipping charge does they charge at the wowwee store
Categories: News, Rumors and Gossip
There has been a development.
I checked the WowWee store site early this morning (wednsday, 2 July), and there had been no apparant change to the RoboBoa area (see the thread I started in 'General WowWee discussion' topic: 'New here, 3 Questions'). The RoboBoa item on the WowWee store still seemed to have erroneous data, and it wasn't clear whether someone in the USA could order a RoboBoa there.
However, Gale Y had already posted in that thread to the effect that RoboRemotes were available. I can only assume that hopefully she specifically meant available in the USA via the WowWee store. I ordered 3 via the WowWee store. Between monday and today, my order status has changed from 'New Order' to 'Processed'. No indication as to when this will ship.
I hung out in my living room all day, because I was expecting my first WowWee product - A RoboQuad that I ordered from ToysRUs - to arrive (it arrived and works GREAT - I gave it a full workout and tested all of its functions).
I just logged on to WowWee store again this afternoon, hoping maybe that the status for my RoboRemote order had changed from 'Processed" to 'Shipped' (no luck there).
BUT - the RoboBoa area has been updated. The correct information seems to be there now, and the online price is $69.99 (less shipping). 'Product Summary', 'Technical Specs' and 'Features' are working. I took a chance and ordered one via the WowWee store (specifying UPS 2nd day air).
Hopefully, this will go well. The only thing that I can see going wrong is that maybe these items (RoboRemote, RoboBoa) are really NOT in stock in the USA, and I've really 'PRE-ORDERED' something sitting in a warehouse in Asia.
Maybe this is good news.
Shipping for the three RoboRemotes - UPS Ground - was $5.69. The RoboRemotes are due to arrive on about 8 July (I've been tracking them).
Shipping for the RoboBoa - UPS Second Day Air - was $12.10, and I just checked; my order status for the RoboBoa has changed from 'New Order' to 'Processed'. Hopefully I will get an email soon to the effect that it is shipped. Unless these are not in the USA yet... we'll see. Tomorrow being 4 July, if the status stays the same throughout this afternoon/evening, I probably won't hear anything until monday.
(thats right - I will go DEAF as a form of protest until my stuff gets here!)
VERY GOOD NEWS!
I received an email...
The RoboBoa that I ordered from the WowWee store shipped yesterday at 3:31 P.M. from the 'ArchBrook Laguna' distributer in Nevada (UPS 2nd Day Air). I can expect delivery on Tuesday 8 July. I ordered this the day before yesterday; WED 2 July.
... so apparantly RoboBoas are available in the U.S.A., folks.
I think I will take a moment to explain why I want a RoboBoa so much. Well, I'm not really sure. Its just so darn ... WEIRD looking. From the YouTube videos... it reminds me of that martian periscope-thing from War of the Worlds (both the classic with Gene Barry, and the remake with Tom-Cruise-the-Wacky-Scientologist). It's 'twitch' response is very good, from the videos.

It looks like this WowWee store -> 'esend' thing is working good... 'esend' and whoever else they are working with ('Archbrook Laguna') are a little slow processing orders at first (say, three days from the time that you order to the time that they ship), but thats OK.
I just got an email about an order shipping. It said that the container quantity = 3, and it was via UPS ground; meaning that it was the three RoboRemotes that I ordered on monday.
The email was from 'ArchBrook Laguna'. I googled it; ArchBrook Laguna is a consumer electronics distributer, with locations in New Jersey, Nevada and possibly other sites.
The expected delivery date for the 3 RoboRemotes is next tuesday / 8 July.
I think this pretty much confirms that any change made in the WowWee store recently (IE 'now partnered with esend') and any concerns with 'general strangeness' in the store are nothing to worry about. If you order RoboRemotes in the USA via WowWee store, you WILL get them unless / until they run out of stock.
I wasn't expecting that email notification, but I got it when the item was shipped. A good sign. My order status on the RoboBoa that I ordered today is still 'New Order' (versus 'Processed'); but it also took a couple of days for this to change with my first order (RoboRemote).
