Interesting fact about Toads, those two humps closest to a toads head are glands that secrete a type of chemical paste....in some species of toads this is actually a powerful venom used to discourage predators, not sure what the function of this secretion is in American toads, but a little trick I've learned while fishing, if you catch a toad by the water and can *milk* a little of this paste and smear it onto a plastic fishing lure, it drives the fish nuts.... all you have to do is apply very slight pressure to the gland and it should produce some of the paste... don't squeeze or you chance injuring the toad, you should probably wash your hands afterwards, since there's really no telling what is in the paste.

I think the american toad paste (which rarely appears) is also a form of "de-predatorizing" venom, except it doesn't shoot out as do most toads.BGIB , would you like to be a student or an assisstent teacher?
