Hi idrum 289
RS Media uses up rechargable batteries quit quickly.
I recomend that you get the best rechargable batteries you can find.
I'm using; D size 2800mAH and AA 2100mAH
After a couple of charges they are lasting a lot better than the last lot I had.
You can get hire powered ones, but here they are SO SO expencive.
Hope you get to enjoy RS Media soon.
Picked up my RS Media this morning. Can't play with him yet as I need my AA batteries to charge up fully. I turned him on, his eyes and the LCD screen light up but 2 seconds later he turns off. I'm assuming it's just that my rechargeable AA's I'm using for the brain aren't fully charged? Any clues guys?

So do I my friend. So do I. I don't mind waiting, it's just that I want to know that he is ok. Was still in the box so he should be ok. Guess I'm just impatient!

Bet you had fun getting it out of the packaging?
It is hard waiting for the batteries to charge, but it should give you time to look at the software, or even down load the newer version.
Hope your RS Media works okay.
My first one did not, but my second one works fine (touch wood/fingers crossed).
I must look out for Energizer AA 2500mAh NiMh, they must sell them in the UK.
Actually, the packaging wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. The batteries, however, were a different story. I think my charger is past it's use by date. I got some normal alkaline AA batteries an hour and a half ago (yes, it's been a busy weekend) and guess what? RS Media (I've called him Bob) is alive and well except for a constant popping noise from his woofer. There is a post or 2 on here somewhere about it so I'll have a look. I'll also have a look at the software tomorrow at work. All my bots live there as I've no room at home! Thanks for your replies to my threads. Much appreciated.

Hope woofer noise gets sorted.
Keep your Robots at work! Do you get any work done?
My RS Media is called Marvin.
Heya, for some quick thrills, while you wait for your betteries to charge, plug in RSmedia with the AC adapter! The only difference between that and using batteries is that he won't walk or do leg motions when plugged in.
edit: woops. shoulda read the thread more carefully. You have him up and running now. lol
No worries atwolf! I'm now at work and about to test the interaction with 'Steve' my RSV2. Today that will be my mission. The interaction routines with 'Fido' Roboraptor, 'Bones' Robotyrannus/Roboreptile and of course 'Steve'.
Might do some work in between. Depends on how I feel....

Here he is guys. 'Bob'. Robotyrranus/Roboreptile interaction the best. Tried it on all 4 personalities. Good fun. It'll take me years to take advantage of all the features of all my bots but that's the whole point isn't it?

Just thought I'd post this pic as it appeals to my warped sense of humour. Come to think of it, there could be numerous interpretations of this. Anyway, I was just lamenting about the lack of play time I've had with my bots and turned to look longingly at them when I noticed that the three bots on my office floor had rather a unique "pose" happening. I swear I didn't plan this...

man, seeing that pic of the media in the box brings back fond memories... honestly, i love that it takes forever to get these things out of their boxes. unboxing a new gadget is one of my favorite things to do!

Wow looks great, actually after i get mine first i'm going to mess around with the personalities, then see what it does in free roam mode. Then if i'm feeling brave i'll use the PC software and see what might not be too difficult to experiment with.
Grandlarseny37 - I must admit, it really is fun "busting" them out of their box. I have a 12 year old son who just loves to help but I have to rein him in because he gets so excited.
Macmutt - I LUURRV the avatar! I'm actually excited for you.

Thanks man, i'm excited too, not to mention my 7 year old is just a tad anxious himself, i hope i can keep him at bay while i unpack it, install the batteries and look over the manual and controls and commands.
It was kind of hard explaining to him that it was my robot and not his, because he was a little young for such a complex and expensive item, not to mention he nearly breaks everything he gets inside of a week, so i hope he'll be content watching me issue all the commands.
I hear ya buddy....

It was a topic long ago "The battery usage wise" where many things about batteries and accumulators has been said. Take a look idroom289 !
One thing I want you to say ... when batteries level is low must of the times one battery makes the difference (for a while) ... if you have check it with a Voltmeter !

Freeek, it took me a while to figure out what you were talking about until I saw the start of my thread. This minor issue was sorted the next day with my rechargeable AA's being fully charged and RS Media coming to life.
I have read all the threads about battery usage in RW Media and also the use of rechargeable D's. the only product available to me here in Australia is by DSE but I'm still dubious about spending copious amounts of money on something I'm still not sure about.

Well i've been checking around and the biggest complaint from people with the rechargeables is that they don't last as long on a full charge as newly bought regular batteries, so i just went on ebay and bought a few bulk packages of duracell procell batteries D's and AA's, that should last over a month and the D batt's come in a 12 pack and the AA's come in a 24 pack so between those and the new ones i've already got sitting here i should be good for a while.
Besides after hearing various people complain about either how long the batteries take to recharge or how much less time they actually last, i'll just pop for replacement batteries like once a month, it's a small price to pay for the knowledge that my RS-Media will be working at peak performance with it's fresh batteries.
Hmmm, Well I use two sets of D size 2600mah plus 2800mah AA batteries and alternate between the two, so I charge one set up while the others are in use.
It costs around 1-2p UK to charge up my batteries so the costs is much better than buying alkaline.
Plenty of food for thought. On the plus side, I just got home from getting an AC adaptor for my RS Media. Once I've done the rounds on Robocommunity, Facebook and Friends Reunited I'll plug it in and have some fun with Media boy.

Hey guys, thought you might like to see this. I took home my RS Media from work the other week. I made sure no harm came to him.....
