Basically it says that, this year, ALL of the JAva source code will be made open and free under GPL.
Apparently about 5% of the code was still closed due to vendors not wanting their code out in the open. In cases where Sun couldn't work out a deal with the vender, they have actually gone back and recoded the pertinant sections themselves!
This vendor issue is also what we have been hearing about concerning the problems releasing RS media's SDK... I wonder if this might clear the way or move things foreward somehow?
Or is it completley irrelevant? What are your thoughts?
