Are some floor surfaces better for roboquad or any of the other wowee robots. Carpet, cement, kitchen tile, pavement, or do they work fine on any kind of surface. Also, are they designed to be more indoors than outdoors, and how does outside light affect them.

All of the WowWee walkers perform much better on even surfaces than uneven ones.
They don't pick up their feet very far, and their balance points do not adapt to changing conditions, so they are often challenged by any inclines or minor bumps or ridges.

Thick carpet will trip up an RSV2 everytime. The RoboReptile has more stability than the two legged bots.

I have read reports of people having the foot tips and pads worn down from running the robots on abrasive surfaces like concrete. There are a few tips on the community concerning how to deal with worn foot pads.

As for the question concerning indoors versus outdoors, the robots rely on InfraRed remote control and ranging. The infrared signals can be affected by unfiltered sunlight.

Personally, I don't really see these guys as outdoor toys. There is just so much more danger for the bots to get into outside. Dirt will get inside and gunk things up. Falling over on cement is so much harsher than carpet. Your wife, spouse, teenager, drunk uncle, might not see them in the driveway and run them over with the S.U.V. Not to mention the possibility of sudden downpours, lightning strikes, robot kidnappers in mysterious black vans, meteors. I could go on...

A couple of the reasons _I_ prefer to not go outside...

You forgot clowns and hippies.

Watch out, don't step in the anthropomorphization.

got a question my roboquad does no react to sound do i have it turned off or something i talk clap bang on the floor he just gos on doing his own thing what is wrong

I'm pretty sure the sound sensors are turned off while the robots are moving. The cacophony of motors and gears would trigger noise "hits" if they ears were monitored while it clunked along.

Check your manual for what remote control combination turns the sound sensors on again when the robot is sitting still.
