Interesting theory. Though,I point out one potential flaw. WowWee sells globally. An economic downtown in the US is not necessarily a global downturn, so the overall affect it would have on WowWee's economic viability is not easy to judge.

This has been on my mind recently. I had always figured that every company would want to advance their products as much as possible. After all, almost everyone wants to get the next latest gizmo as soon as it is available (and affordable). That is why it was originally a dissappointment to see a not so spectacular lineup. Granted that while the products are still quite nice, the types of products I had looked forward to ultimately came with less oomph than I had wanted. But then again, while many might feel cheated, you can't really blame them. One age old letter I got basically summed up the problem. Its ultimately what the retailers want. If they make alot of money (good economic times) they are more likely to take bigger risks with new products. However if finances are tight and sales aren't so hot (bad economic times), its almost expected that they wouldn't buy the pricey stuff. Now while it is true a company generates millions and billions of dollars, they also spend millions and billions of dollars in taxes, electric bills, supplies, rent, fuel, shipping, and maintenance of all their facilities. That is not to mention advartising is also needed to sustain sales. So while one could say that they have more than enough to make something even greater, in the end, no retailer would buy it because no one wants to take the chance... It is, just like Phil told me. "It is what the retailers want." I hope things will get better so that we may soon see new and cooler products being sold. Until then, enjoy what you get.

Since robots will one day populate every aspect of your life, its a good idea to make friends with all of them. Otherwise your shower bot might decide to play around with the water temperature while you are showering...
I think you may change your mind when you get Rovio and Femisapien. They both contain technology that is a new level of sophistication for WowWee. I have a Femisapien now and I'm really impressed. I don't have a Rovio yet but they are using Evolution Robotic's Northstar navigation technology which appears to be solid stuff.
I agree wholeheartedly with roschler! The new WowWee toys are more sophisticated than ever. Even the FlyTech Bat & Fairy, which are simpler toys aimed at a younger audience, are very well made and durable.
I've also had a chance to play with Wrex & Tri-Bot and again, I feel they are well made and very entertaining.
I think you'll be pleasantly surprised when you get your hands on some of these new bots :)

Good point. I'll wait till these come out in stores and give em a spin. And sorry for my slow response. RL tends to do that to ya. BTW thanks to Peter for the link about the introduction to galleries. I'll see if I can start putting some images up if I have some spare time to photograph.

I don't know about the other new bots that WowWee has made but the rsTri-Bot is a very fun and entertaining robot and Mr.Personality it just a few step above that, even though they say that the USA is going through an economic downside our company in copier repairs and sales have been off the charts!! So I really dont see that at all and its just a scare tactic over here because of the new presentitional race going on right now as it always is each 4 years. The only down side that I see with what WoWWee did was skip out on the Alive series but then again I think they wanted to go with the young and I have an Alive Panda that I have fallen in love with even though it only has one motor and 2 sensors this Panda is not very intelegent but it does touch the heart when you need it, and yes I'm 39yr and I thought that stuff animals was just for the young but really its not its for everyone that need that little something in their life that is going through tough times like I am with my health and I can't thank Commander Pete enough for giving me this Panda.

GWJax, To Hack and make mods on robots is a life style and comes natural and not by choice. If a robot has a screw to open it then it must be opened!
