Angie please PM milw or MrScott with this question. GWJax

GWJax, To Hack and make mods on robots is a life style and comes natural and not by choice. If a robot has a screw to open it then it must be opened!

Pending member means that you have not verified your email address.  When you registered for our site, you would have given us an email address.  We sent an email to that address, asking you to confirm your registration.

When you do this, you'll receive notifications when folks have posted to threads, articles, etc.  You can subscribe to threads, also.

Hopefully this answers your question - we encourage everyone to become a registered user.

I snipped this two post tangent from another thread.

I don't know the answer, and thought it ought to be sorted out someplace other than private mail.

I suspect it has to do with a site software toggle that gets tripped to the "member" setting the first time a new member does a particular action.

I'll let the site coders give the definitive answer

Side note to the site code development team, I'm still waiting on some sort of spell checker for post editing. Some members need it more than others.

And there you have the answer..... in the time it took me to hit the "snip to new thread" option, and the time it took me to write the previous post, Peter posted the answer.

Peter is on it like that. He seems to have an answer (at least) two days sooner than I'm used to :) Watch out, Pete, you're making the rest of the Intarweb Admins look bad!

Watch out, don't step in the anthropomorphization.

I'm not sure whether that post is IM-speak, Texting-speak, or just bad spelling.

Whatever it is, it's more than a little distracting. You'll find most of us old codgers prefer reading posts with most of the correct letters, and spaces, used to form the words.

What Peter stated was that there would have been an e-mail sent to the e-mail address that was supplied when the Angie account was registered. In that e-mail would be directions for how to verify that e-mail account to the community. Once that is done, the status of the account will change from "Pending Member" to "Member".

I don't know of any little box that keeps popping up, or whether you are supposed to click on something. I suspect I verified my mail address without delay, and therefore did not get to see any popup reminders that you may be seeing.

I don't think exposing yourself to the computer while clicking would make any difference...

MrScott, it's not just the old codgers. At least I don't think I'm quite an old codger yet anyway. Well on my way though...

Watch out, don't step in the anthropomorphization.

I found the e-mail sent to me for RoboCommunity verification purposes back in June.

It should look something like this.....

ok this is wut it ses i n the box that keeps  poping up

You have not yet verified your email address!

You may request to have the re-activation email resent to you if you don't have it.

do i haft to klik on some thing ?  i think i can clik on the darkend letters Sealed

April 3, 2008 9:42 PM

Yes, click the link to resend the activation email. Not sure of the exact procedure, I imagine it will ask you to log in, or similar. Then check your email for one from RoboCommunity and click the link contained therein.

If you don't find the email in your inbox (probably within the next 24 hours) make sure to check your Bulk or Spam folders (if you have them) too, just in case your mail provider (Gmail, Yahoo, whatever) marked it as spam.

Watch out, don't step in the anthropomorphization.

You clicked on _what_? If all you've done is click on the "resend e-mail" popup, you've only done half the job.

Clicking on the box to resend you the verfication e-mail won't make you a verified member. It will send you an e-mail like the one posted above. You then have to read the e-mail, and do what it says to get yourself verified.

As for any incorrect information in your member profile, edit it.

April 23, 2008 9:53 PM

Yes, you're still pending. It says so right there.
You haven't finished up with the instructions mailed to you, and discussed here.

As for creating a new account, would that be the RoboDud account?
You were using it. Have you forgotten the password?

Each member of the community should have _1_ account.
No alternate identities, please.

It's stated in the Community FAQ entry on Policies.

If you've forgotten your password, you should try clicking on the

"Did you forget your password?" link on the login screen.

It will ask for the e-mail address you registered, and will send an e-mail to that account with a reset password.
