I'm starting this thread to show you how to repair the V2 left arm cable. This will start by posting a few pics to open up the left arm and then I'll get a video ready to post so you can see how its done. The video should be done within the next day.

you pinched a wire or broke a wire, which eye is not working. Also at this state you should not turn on the power just incase you short out something. and you should always remove the batteries from the bot before atempting to do repairs or mods on your robot!

The Hand Wire That you are talking about? If so thats Ok we will replace the entire wire with another one.

Let me get my inventory ready and I'll let you know. Please don't rush this Angie. I know you want to play with the V2 but you must slow down a little and all the information will be given to you. GWJax

Ok Angie I'll start off with the finnished Video and I could not get my son to video tape the process so I'll have to type it in and show you pictures of the process, It only takes about a half hour to do this, I guess less if I did not have to stop and take pictures. but here we go:
You can get these parts from wal-mart or you local craft storeParts used in repairing the left hand pull line,
- Beadalon Bead stringing wire Part # JW11T-10FT, Nylon coated stainless steel, .018” /0.46mm
- 4 each Beadalon Crimping Tubes Size #2 I.D. 1.3 mm silver plated
- wire cutters
- screwdriver
- sharpie
- mm ruller
- crimping tool
First after all plate covers are removed, remove the black spring that holds tension to the left wire. Remove the screw then remove the spring with a pair of nose pliers “note that the spring is under tension so get a good grab on the spring before removing it” once removed clip off the broken cable wire from both the chest area and the hand area.

Discard this wire, you may leave the round wire holders if you want to but they are no longer needed. Now remove the black plate that holds the wire in place in the chest area and set it aside this will release the spring holder from the chest and will give you more room to work on adding the new wire.

When cutting the new wire mark the new wire 60mm from where you will start to measure then measure 360 mm from that point and mark it, then cut the wire at another 60 mm from that mark. So you’ll have a total line that is 480 mm long.
Next use a #2 phillips head screwdriver and loop the wire around and then place the crimp tube at the marked location on the wire and then crimp it closed.

Next add another crimp tube next to it to hold it down good. Cut off the excess wire next to the two crimps you just made.
Note: Make sure you close these crimps down tight so they don’t come loose under pressure.
Next run the wire down the spring until it comes out all the way. This time we will add 2 crimp tubs to the end of the wire before we loop it around the finger attachment joint. Now loop the wire around where the attachment joint are and loop the wire around and through the first crimp tube to where you have the other mark on the line. Now crimp it. Crimp the next tube as well and snip off the excess wire. Your done!

Now place the first loop you made over the pin where you first started in the chest. Now all you have to do is just reassemble the arm assembly and attach the large black spring to hold the hand wire taught. Your V2 now has the left hand movement, If your right had wire is broken just follow the steps above for the right side.

I hope this helps you and remember to take your time when doing this. Good Luck GWJax

GW, you might not have noticed on the other thread, but 'Angie' is really Ben using his moms account. Thanks for posting all these instructions- do you want to make a thread on how to build a replacement wiring harness too?
Another question- is this Beadalon wire also suitable for repairing a Roboreptiles 'bite' cable?

Ya I know his name is Ben but I thought he did not want his name spread out on the fourms. What wiring harness are you talking about? The legs and power supply that is crumbled in some v2?
The wire can also repair both the rapture and the reptile. This wire has a breaking point at 26lbs and is very flexible so it wont crinkle on you. Just the length is diffrent thats all and remember ALWAYS put two crimps on the wire so they won't come apart.

I just added a gallery of all photos taken for this mod. I hope this helps out a little bit better with larger photos. GWJax

Great! let us know when you get it done. The crimp pliers are around 9 to 15 dollars and the wire is 5.00 and the #2 crimp tubs are around 3.00 so try to talk you mom in getting these for you or cut some grass or do chores around the house to get the money to buy the things you need. Good Luck!

Ben just take your time and you'll do fine. Just don't rush it. also pratice the crimping first, make sure you can not pull the crimp apart before adding it to your V2

What i dont get is that the hand in the vid didnt close all the way its supposed to make a fist
all you have to do is shorten the cable by 3mm, mine slipped a little. but i'm fine with that for my v2

The first thing to do is to remove the fron chest plate:
next remove the shoulder arm plate 4 screws:
after the plate is off remove the hub that the cable is connected to. This will be glued so use a screw driver to lift it up.
next remove the screws on the hand. 4 screws on this. The hand cover plate will be glued in some spots and a pin will hold the plated togeather. to get the pin out you have two ways to do it. one get a small stiff wire and a hammer and knock out the pin or pry it open from the middle of the hand. Use care when doing this as it is hard to do.
here is a close up of the wire connections that we will replace in the video.
I will post a video later and follow up on the pics and mesurments and tools that you will need to do this. So hang tight.
