I am very interested in getting a Rovio later this year, but I have some major concerns about it.  The videos we have seen are all open and sans-obstacles.  Does Rovio contain any type of autonomy mode?  Does it contain any type of obstacle avoidance system?  If Rovio uses the IR spot on the ceiling as a reference point, what happens if Rovio goes under a table or chair?  How will it know where it is and how would obstacles like this affect teh auto-recharging?  Any thoughts anyone?

I believe Rovio will have an object sensor system as well, to navigate around surprise obstacles. As far as going under an object that obscures the "gps" vision; I imagine it's just going to operate on the assumption it will eventually wander out of the blind spot and back into the light.

I've seen other bots that, when something obscures locating the charging station, will sound some kind of alarm to let their person know they need help. I wonder, since it's supposed to be wifi-ed, if it'll send an email?

I'm somewhere where I don't know where I am!

All of this is pure speculation on my part :)

I don't think anybody here has the answers to most of that until some technical reviews are available.

We have pondered the possibilities, though.
