helow every one. I've seen alot of hack and mods but I don't think i have seen a roboboa hack but if you have a pic I'd like to see.

I don't think we have too many Boa owners onboard just yet.

I ripped mine apart to make a much lighter version
I took out the D cell batteries and replaced them with with 4 AA cells in the end tail segment.
More importantly, I took out the extra metal (lead?/steel?) weights to greatly reduce the weight of the robot, decrease the stain on the motors and allow the robot to move into new positions.
IMHO it now moves more naturally (ie. robots not straining to lift up heavy body segments) but the canned skits don't work as well.
Externally it looks almost identical (I took off the cheating wheels), but has more flexibility without the extra weight.
Doesn't it fall over when it raises its head now that it's center of mass isn't way down there in the tail?

I would expect so, especially since the only time it's straining, is when moving the upper two body segments, which don't actually contain any weights. I suspect it would be more strained with AA's than D's for power.
Robosapienpet - do you have any videos you could post of the more fluid movements?

The center of mass is totally different. The canned motions don't work the same, but with the remote you can move the robot in new and unique ways.
The "AA" batteries can handle the load (same voltage), the difference is the weight.
The way I did it is a one-way-mod, so only strip it down *after* you are bored with the canned motions. IMHO the only cool one is where it sits on his tail and moves by spinning the wheel.
After the mod, you have to use the remote to manually position the snake so the wheel hits the ground.
You could make the mod reversable if you liked (ie. take out the weights, try it, put the weights back in)
Sorry, I didn't make any videos (yet). I may get around to it. I wanted to replace the remote (the 'shift' mode is difficult, they should have added another joystick).
The roboboa is cute, but not something you'll spend hours playing with.
eney one?
