Hi All

I'm thinking about how to alter RQ's voice, eg. change the pitch/tempo of the sounds.

I think this would be a fun mod to do, because because it would change RQ's personality. You could, for instance, slow down and lower the pitch , which would make RQ sound more menacing!

I am about to research for a simple circuit which takes the output from the speaker connection, and can be "tuned" with a Variable Resistor/Capacitor attached to RQ's body.

If anyone has already attempted this mod, or can assist in the design, please post your ideas...

Hope to update on this topic soon...

That's pretty cool. I will be interested to see what you come up with. Good luck.

There are plenty of voice changing toys out there... I wonder if you could steal the guts out of one and jack em into Roboquad's speaker?

Slightly of topic: at Radio Shack the other day, I found a tiny module for recording and playing back sounds that could be triggered by a switch. I instantly was thinking whether it would be fun to stuff one in a Wowwee Robo - you could have a joint or something physically press the switch and activate playback...

Hi altwolf

Thanks for your ideas.. didn't even think about those voice changing devices!

I think I will first google the home-made circuit & see what comes up. The circuit should be fairly simple & uncomplicated to build...Undecided besides, it's been a while since I got my soldering iron out & I'm kinda looking forward to putting it together! Laughing

I have my quad ("R4") gutted at the moment as I am going to spray-paint him, so am going to take this opportunity to fit in as many mods as possible...Cool It's all good fun!

Apologies in advance. You may not want to read this;

Um... Then it could play an Afroman song?

Watch out, don't step in the anthropomorphization.

I want my roboquad to interact with humans more, and dude, you could change roboquad to human interaction just by doing that. If Roboquad sees a moving object he'll say hello. If he sees something like a table leg that is not moving, he could make a little curios sound.

As roboquad steps left, his head turns right.
As roboquad steps right, his head turns left.
As roboquad is walking, my dog freaks out.

Rudolph; LOL!

Lepy; Yes, that would be cool but much harder to do. There is space inside R4 for a small mp3 player - it would be possible to have any stored sound played, when the light sensor and/or mic is triggered i suppose...

I'll post when i have worked out a circuit that will do the job.

Here's an interesting one to look at, mick-146. http://www.redcircuits.com/Page112.htm

I don't know what it'll sound like, but looks pretty useful and not too hard to breadboard.

Nice one Milw Smile I'll take a closer look later... by the way, how many white, 12000mcd 5mm LEDs would you say I could hook-up to RQ, without frying anything or draining the cells too quickly?

I'd like to cover him with white LEDS's so that he would literally light-up a darkened room!!! Cool

Milw; studied the circuit and yes it does sound prety useful, Thank you.

I think there is just enough space in RQ's head for the PCB, but may be tricky (lots of wires to run down the neck).

I'll definately give it a try though & let u know how I get on.
