Just a thought, but the edit link on deleted posts should probably be removed.

A "locked thread" and a "deleted post" are two different things.

As J.T. is well aware, a loophole in thread locking allowed him to go back and edit the opening post in his locked thread. The adminstrators were none too pleased, and asked the software crafters to be a little craftier.

I agree that the Edit button should probably be disabled for "deleted" posts, too.

There are two levels of post deletion. The first level marks the post deleted, but retains the original content. That content can be seen by administrators and moderators. These "soft deletes" can either be "undeleted", or permanently deleted.

If the post was deleted due to content unbefitting our community, then the author is asked to work directly with the administrators and moderators to get the post updated and "undeleted".

Hey MrScott, I didn't mean to edit my locked thread to try to fight back. I was just baffled and didn't know what to do.

I'm pretty sure I tried editing one of my deleted posts and it said

"Access is denied to viewing this post at this time"
