We got a big Target kids-stuff flier today, and there was Bladestar! Listed at $49.95, so I'm thinking it may well be in the store tomorrow (or maybe even tonight?!). Post if you see it in your store (it's an exclusive at Target for a month or maybe more).

I didn't see it here in our local Target ad, but I haven't had a chance to get in the stores to confirm.  Has anyone else found anything new?

I live in a Target-less state, so it's all moot for me unless I'm traveling out of state or its available via online ordering.

I've been checking target since Thursday (6th) when I noticed the official Bladestar site said "Exclusivly at target until..."

It was not in stores on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.  I didn't check yesterday (Sun) but I plan on swinging by this evening and checking.

If anyone finds any in the store please post. I'm wondering if it hasn't arrived here yet (Nashville, TN) but perhaps it's on the west coast already?

It's not here in Jacksonville, FL Targets yet. I have checked 10 Target stores and nothing.

Hrm... On Wowwee's website is the image:

Not sure how long it's been on there...but hopefully we'll be flying them soon.

The BladeStar site does have this notice under the "Where to Buy" link

Where to buy

North America

Exclusively at Target Stores
until June '08.

So, after June it will probably show up in the usual places (WalMart, ToysRus, etcetera).

It was still not in the store as of last night when I stopped...

Has anyone see it in their local Target yet?

Hey J.T. -

1.  One of your posts was an exact duplicate of your previous post, so I took care of deleting it.

2.  Bladestar is the newest member in the WowWee FlyTech line of toys.  It's a helicopter-type device that can fly all by itself, or be controlled.

Check here for more information on the Bladestar.

On a side note, J.T., there's another user on this site who is currently using the exact same avatar as you are.  Both of you are active on the site, and using the same avatar could cause some confusion!  Just something to think about :)

Didn't mean to mimic other people's avatar to get in trouble, just to have fun and see what they'd say.

The bladestar sounds interesting. Maybe I'll think about getting it.

Pete, did you see my newest thread I Got Some Help! :) ? Before, my mom said if WowWee didn't help me, I couldn't get anymore bots. But now that they have helped me, I'll get the Robopet ASAP.

One of our Targets has the shelf space and tag up; and I just called the other and they claim to have it on the shelf! I'm running out now....

...and I'm back. They had 4 on the shelf, so I restrained myself and only got 2! Woo hoo!

Excellent news, thanks milw for the news!

I will be swinging by my local Target on the way home from work!

March 13, 2008 1:37 PM

when you have time can you post a review on the bladestar. want to know if it that easy to control it.

March 13, 2008 2:07 PM

Good point, while i'm at work: If you have a chance to charge it up and fly it we'd love to hear your thoughts milw.

I'm really curious to know how you have 4 way movement if the vehicle is rotating - how do you know which way is forwards?

Can't wait till I get off work now!

March 13, 2008 2:18 PM

Will do. The one I had posted about earlier was a pre-production model, so the sensor settings weren't finalized. Will try to get pix and vid up tonight! I grabbed my camera and batteries from home while on the way back to work (work? oh yeah...). It's pretty clear that the navigation control is all relative to the remote position. The remote is always sending out a signal, so as the sensor on the Bladestar rotates it can tell when it is aligned with the remote. You have to keep the remote aimed at the Bladestar for it to work of course.

So forward on the remote will always be away from the remote then? And reverse will bring the vehicle closer to you?

March 13, 2008 4:54 PM

That's the theory... seemed to work OK when I tried flying it at work (coworkers: "What's that buzzing sound? Oh it's only Scott with another toy!")

OK just bought mine just a few min. ago. so I am updating this post in my car and off to the house. I have the one with dragons on the blades. The only one left on the shelf has yellow flames. Well I love dragons so this was the great find for me. I'll post pics later. Must drive home now! :)

I thought we'd get dragon and flame wings in one package, but I got dragon and blank wings in the one I opened. Can't wait to hear your thoughts GW!

What a rush! You know when you are a real Geek when you get this excited about a new toy! LOL The BladeStar is now charging. WowWee did a better job in locating the charger cord in the remote. Just unscrew the blank cover and bam there it is. No more fishing it out. :) The boom and blades are at aprox 60 deg from each other which I thought they were at 90 degs. The motor boom span is 8" from blade cover to blade cover and the wings are 12" from tip to tip connected to the center housing. You get 2 set of wings one with a pattern and the other blank. On the tip of the wings are aluminum foil tape and in the center another small square of tape on the back tip of the wings for ballance. The wings will fold up to the top of the housing and the lay back down by 20 deg. from center. There is only 1 and I repeat 1 IR TX LED on it.  on the top is a photo transistor and one IR LED at the bottom placed inside, about a 1/4" inside of the hub  under the IR RX. The IR RX has two shelds on each side of it and no sheilds on top or bottom of it. The booms that the motors are attached to are carbon square rods held in place by a plastic belt that goes around the center hub. The rest of the hub is made of that crash proof foam. from top to bottom of the hub is 2 1/2" tall and 1" wide. Also when you turn it on there is a red LED that glows from the inside. The control response is very slow. I have already crashed into the ceiling so I must read the manual now to find out why. Now here are a few pictures.

GW, how did you determine that the top one is a phototransistor and not an IR LED? (I haven't looked at mine thru the camera to see if it lights up).

OK, I disagree- looking thru the cam viewfinder, the top one IS an IR LED; I can see it pulsing as I'm holding it still in front of the camera, throttle at half in 'autopilot mode'. I can also see the lower inset LED pulsing, so I stand by my original assertion that there are two Tx and one Rx.
