I am keeping my eye on Sharper Image. They are closing 90 of their stores and have filed dor bankruptcey. A Wowwee robo lover may be able to score a few deals at their store or online...

Just a tip.

Heres's a few things onsale at their website:

RoboQuad - $39.95

RoboPanda - $71.95

Alive Elvis - $79.95

---------------------------------------------------------

Target.com has some slight deals...

Pink Robopet - $39.95

Robosapien RSmedia - $209.99, seen it slightly cheaper on occasion. this is the lowest I've seen it in a long time.

---------------------------------------------------------

Other deals on Robots @ other places:

I-sobot - $209.99 @thinkGeek.com - the lowest i've seen it ever.

--------------------------------------------------------

Just thought I'd post those, since I was looking around for deals.

I bought my first laser pen at the Sharper Image. And my first synthesizing keyboard... and my first pocket computer (this was back in 1985!). And a vocoder...

Too bad they're going out of business...

My Roboquad came from Sharper Image. At the time it was the cheapest place. I bought my I-Sobot off Ebay. Ebay is the cheapest for I-Sobot. Mine was $155.00

A Chapter 11 bankcruptcy filing is a reorganization filing. As far as I know it doesn't mean that they are going out of business, just that they need protection from creditors because they can't handle their debt load. However, it certainly is not a good thing and could be the precursor to going out of business. I think what's bad is that they won't be honoring any of their gift cards.

I took this right off their website. So far they have just filed chapter 11 and they are not accepting gift cards. They may honor them again later in March.

i hope the best for them

You know... I'm not the least bit surprised by this. Alot of their merchandise is overpriced. Same with FAO Schwartz that also overcharge for most of their goods. They have fewer stores now. But thats expected. Ripping people off is a great way to get stores to start closing their doors.

Since robots will one day populate every aspect of your life, its a good idea to make friends with all of them. Otherwise your shower bot might decide to play around with the water temperature while you are showering...
