Does anyone know of a source for the Tamiya style mini battery connectors that are used on the I-Cybie? They are three pin connectors. The battey connects with three leads providing 6 & 12 volts The charger only need two of the pin connections. Hours of Google searches have turned up nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Look under Tamiya and see if those are what you need.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately those suppliers only have the two wire connectors. Never thought a mini three wire one would be so hard to find.

Could you post a picture of the plug? A closeup view.

Here are the I-Cybie battery connectors.

The sections measures about 31/32"L x 7/32"h x 5/8"w

I see the three pins on your connector, but are you using all three pins for power or just two? If you cannot find these connectors you could just solder some mini connectors from another namebrand.

Look at these:

All three connectors are being used. The battery pack is a ten cell 12volt that is tapped at the center. The robot requires the 6/12v output. The charger lead only has to use the outer connectors. The battery pack is only rated at 800mah which results in a very short run time.

I am looking for the exact replacement connectors because I'm building two 2300ahm battery packs for the I-Cybie and also need the connector for the smart battery charger that will be used with them. Because of the limited space in the battery compartment the connectors must be small. I have been unable to find anything even similar to these connectors.

The only place I have seen the connectors is on a battery pack that is manufactured in the UK. I wrote to the seller and was told that they buy them by the 1000s. They offered to tell me the make and model upon request but so far my request remains unanswered.

Take a look at Deans connectors. You can also try MOLEX connectors. You could just cut off the originals and use mini MOLEX.

Thanks again for your help.

I was really hoping to find a Tamiya type set of connectors, but the Deans and the Molex certainly offer good alternate possibilities.

Check out these..I believe these would work if you cannot find the Tamiya jacks. each has a male and female on each end which you could cut and splice. Also check out their two-wire sets which actually have three wires.

Don't know about the connector but it did look familiar. Maybe Jameco would have that one.

Your question brought up a humorous memory though. Back in the 70's I was an electronics tech at a local audio tv repair shop. One day a young fellow came into the store and wanted a male phono plug and jack bought it and left. About a half hour later he came back in and his handswere trembling and wanted to know what would be a good power connector for his new cassette deck he had just installed in his car. He wanted a quick disconnect as he wanted to remove it every time he left his car. Theft prevention I guess. Well...the story was that he had tried to hook the 12 volt dc power to his deck using the phono jack and plug with explosive results!! Dead short when he plugged it in and burned the connector badly with a bang! Got him a two pin polarized connector set and he was on his way. Just had to pass this along. :-)

Dr. Neff, Did you ever find the charger you were looking for? I have the same need and I was curious as to how you made out. Thanks.

Once you get the battery packs built, how are you going to charge them? I don't think the i-cybie charger can charge the higher current batteries.
