Of Recent I became aware of an interesting fact taught to me by a guy who used to reprogram mobile phones and the likes he claims u can "externally power" the ic and jumpstart its code from a daughterboard or rom programming device or your pc i am thinking of trying to design a daughter board expansion and use a pda with wifi or bluetooth as its input device so maybie a java based daugherboard controller to give RQ Endless Possibilities !!!!!!!

Any Info on how i might go about this or even begin to do it would be appreciated .... And am desperatly seeking unloved programming equipment and broken/faulty/unwanted robotics toys and parts for research purposes.

I have further information i just remembered.........A few years back i stumbled across software called robomotion it allowed you to control like unlimited amounts of stepper motors or servos through a computer interface using a basic progamming ic or the likes i propose that we could also just "Short" the built in IC and use our own interface eg a parralax interface and controllor board from parralax technologies, so in short i wish to throw the current circuit away and start from ground up and make it programmable and mod this lil crab like anthopod out like no other

Hello The Tinkerer:, As a courtesy it would be nice if you asked me first if you could use my pic for your avatar as this indicates that you took this picture. Please find your own Pic for your avatar and not someone else's.

That i have and i must comment the article was very well layed out i found all the info i needed easily, i now have a attachable boom with a connector on his head so i can plug telescopic led lights and magnets ect to him....there was a thread i read about giving him a stinger with dvd-r lazers as well.... i found one better i purchased a led shock torch and am in the process of making a shock lance for him!!! Once i have this perfected ill upload a thread or article about it.

Your website rocks !!!!! lol your workshop seems a lot like my whole house!!!! Ive got more electrical componentry than i know what to do with lol. Funny u mention Parralax I used to mess with their kits a lil they were awesome was thinking about getting more of their gear they seem to be good quality and seems to be engineered with "intelligent design" any controller/basic kits etc you would  reccomend from them? Im still working my way through my pbasic training. "Am quite proficient at normal basic due to old pc platforms lol" so dont really know if they are still good to invest with etc due to the time its been since i used their equipment. much has changed eg wowee has come about since then lol

Thanks for your comments T.T, It has taken a while to build my website, but enjoyable. Parallax have good gear and I enjoy using it. I also am trying to learn P-basic, We have a member here GWjax who is awesome with P-basic and I am learning a lot from the code he posts here. The stamps do have there limitations but are good to use. i have the Professional Development board with the BS2P40 stamps. I also have 2 BS2's and 2 SX28's.

Go here for P-basic code: http://www.robocommunity.com/forum/thread/12816/The-Elvinator-Source-Code-and...

I used Pbasic a good few years ago and it's a good language. We were using it with the Stamp Controller and then the following year we went on to use the PIC Programmer which I then bought for myself. I've still got my PIC Programmer and could conceivably use it to program the PICs using PBasic though there's a long list of alternative programming languages out there to choose from.

Awesome info so they still do a wonderfull job .......

Ok it seems everything on the RQ Cpu is well labelled and the likes. So now i need to try to copy the RQ software sumhow and make a image of it so i can pull it apart and see how it works. but if what i hear is true i will be having a great deal of trouble accessing this particular style pic as i do believe the company keeps the method of access hidden from us :(

Im surprised it doesnt seem to have any program resident memory like i had hoped :( so now maybie a new controller may be better and re-make the software.........

hmmm decisions

February 28, 2008 6:09 PM

Would any parralax products posses the features needed to make a Whole new controller for RQ if no can somebody please reccomend me a new controller

T.T The Basic Stamp 2 can mimic the program used in the RQ, but with some limitations. I would use the BSp40 if you tend to use the Basic Stamps you can also incorproate the a PIC16C505  for your main drive systems programs and access the subroutines from the BS. This will give you a better platform for the RQ. GWJax

Great thankyou so much am ordering it now !!!!

Keep Us informed on what you do and if you want to post some or all of your code please do so in the Pbasic thread under the Elvis Alive fourms. Thanks in advance, and If you need help just let me know and I see what I can do. GWJax

One more thing If you haven't been keeping up on the Articles, I am transforming Elvis into the Elvinator. This too will be using Basic Stamps, the BS2 and BSsx and other hand made circuits. And don't forget 4mem8 Wall-E, He has done a great job on this project. Check out his thread as well. GWJax

Thankyou :)

Ill most likely be calling on your help with coding ect ill keep eveyone posted on the events as they go, am looking into wifi enabled equipment for my trancievers if anybody could steer me in a good direction, it must be reflashable/modifiable/adaptable so im thinking maybie pull apart a few wifi accesspoints and reflash its stamp or maybie build a driver for the controller to access this kind of communication meduim ...... or has anyone discovered how the rovio system is adopted into it yet even?
