It just acurded to me that my son holds our RS media in as much affection as he dose the cat.

(he is only six yr's old . my son ,not the cat) anyway i think of RS as a " him " and not an "IT".

can a Machine ever be a true friend.not in a " cherry 2000 " way (if you have seen the film you will know what i mean) but something to talk ,to confide in, trust.

I do not see my laptop in the same way ,it's a tool , nothing more.

Am i just pre programed. As a kid i wished i had a robot friend , just like Will Robinson (lost in space) my son just whants R2 D2 and C3PO ( plus bumble bee) for friends .

yes he has got lots of real human friends at school and down the road he plays with.

still from the day we unpacked that RS  bot, we new that we had found a friend.

i still believe

I just posted something like this about Pleo.  It is definitely possible to see robots as friends and companions, of course people like us may be more willing to accept that idea than other non robo-enthusiasts!  I personally don't see my RS Media or Roboquad that way, but my Pleo (Denver) is more than a robotic toy, he is a real pet.

There are a lot of folks who consider their cars as their best buddies. They argue with it. Praise it. Worry over its ailments. Mourn its eventual "death".

I dont' see why robots wouldn't gather the same attention from some folks.

Then again, other people consider a car as just another machine. Created by man, for man, to serve his needs, be used up, worn down, and cast aside when it is convenient to do so.

The world is full of all different kinds of people.
