I'm pretty sure it just mindlessly trundles forward once it's switched on.
That's what the mini-Raptor and mini-RSV2 do.
Good for photo-ops, or a desk toy to remind you what waits at home.

I was at work today, and Target now has the mini roboquad for $10, im sure he doesnt do much, but he would make a nice addition to anyones collection, and if you mod your roboquad and match mini roboquad with him, that would be cool

We have one. It doesn't actually walk, there's wheels on the base. The legs just flap back and forth to give the illusion of walking.
Watch out, don't step in the anthropomorphization.
I think those mini-series are actually more of a character marketing.
It's not about what it can do. It's about liking the appearences or
showing that you are a wowwee freak.
Well..either way it works :)
Damn the expense
I agree with you Bender. GWJax
GWJax, To Hack and make mods on robots is a life style and comes natural and not by choice. If a robot has a screw to open it then it must be opened!
I bought one, thinking that it would be better. I read the box, it said there was IR sencers on the roboquad mini. when it tried it out, all it did was wALK arond.
waste of 12$

The Revolution will never end! :P
Lepy why don't you put the LEDs in your self? Beef up the mini. GWJax

no a very good LED hacker... and as far is i know, i'm not a very good IR hacker either...
But i read it. You can go look at the box yourself.

Well you have to start somewhere Lepy. The mini's would be a great start because their cheep, or I should say that they do not cost alot. So if you do blow it up your not out a lot of money.. GWJax

Lepy: what box are you looking at? It's highly unlikely that the Mini-Roboquad box says that it has IR sensors unless you bought a knock-off...

Is this link to the "mini-quad feature sheet" the same information as what's on the mini-quad box?
It looks like the same format for what I saw on the back of my mini-RSV2 box.

I was out and about today, so I made a point of tracking down a mini-Quad box to see what was said.
I tried to take some phone-cam shots of the text, but they were too blurry to make out (not surprising). The white on grey product description in the upper right corner of the back of the box is likely the source of confusion.

The gist of the text matches pretty closely to this text that appears on the fact sheet I posted a link to earlier in this thread.
You have to be a careful reader to differentiate the top introductory description of the bigger version from the following statement of the lookalike mini.
The text doesn't say anything wrong, it just assumes the reader is paying careful attention. It never says that the mini has the same function as the bigger version. It states it's a look alike, not a work alike.
I would have layed out the text differently. Something along the lines of
"This mini-Quad looks just like its bigger brother, and will move forward when switched on. It also features a poseable head. The full sized RoboQuad has additional features, including distinctive walking movements and an advanced scanning capability."
But I'm not their marketer or technical writer, so it doesn't really matter what I would have written.

Is it worth picking a Mini Roboquad up, or should I get the Mini Homersapien instead?
"Worth" is a very personal, and subjective perception.
Why do you want a mini? What will you do with it, or expect it to do?
These are very low function look-a-likes of their bigger brothers.
There biggest value, in my eyes, is their resemblance to their bigger versions. I rarely even turn mine on.

I may get one just to see what I can do with it. Change it that is to more like the bigger brother. And if I cant do anything with it I put it on my dash board in the car. GWJax

how could you be careful when your focused on buying something roboquad related?!

Well Lepy you just have to read carefully. Plus do proccess of elimination. The features sheet says it doesn't have IR sensors, the highlights on the box don't say it has them, the only thing was this small thing that was describing the real version and then going into how the little Mini is a look alike just as ScottE said.
--------------------------
Plus it even changes to stating the mini quad's features. So it distinctly seperates them. Always read the packaging (+ Instructions) carefully!

I played with it in the store , and I think it went fairly fast. My mom almost got it, but she decided not to. It's just another thing setting up on the desk.

Your right J. T., though I might think of getting a Mini Panda

I have almost all the minis exept the boa whick isnt out yet in my content and i think there just plain fun to race especially mini robosapien and spidersapien or even mini homer if u got him
Minis are good for display purposes mainly and look cool sitting next to the bigger model. The mini quad just goes forward and you can just adjust the head a little. There are other ways to use them if you're creative. One fun thing to do is place a mini roboquad on the floor and let the big roboquad move around and see what it does when it approaches it. You can also use the roboquad to be nice or aggressive to the mini with the controller. Another cool thing to do is make a short film with them for a school project or internet video. Buying a mini just depends on your ideas on what ideas you have for it. If you can't think of anything, don't get it.
