I had the camera and bots out this evening, fishing for a new avatar image.

The following grouping assembled themselves (almost) in front of the camera and demanded a group photo. Who was I to refuse?

Which begs the question, if an advanced cybernetic being felt the need for companionship, would it consider pets, and what would they be?

Here's the closeup of the lead contender for a new avatar.

Possibly something much like R2D2.  A robot in our near future that is used for work or what-not and has been retired... but would be a much older robot than the advanced one.  ???   Or, shiver the thought...  Depending on how advanced this new creation was...  People!  Who knows, it might find humor in how odd and fragile we are compaired to it.

We seem to be hard wired to like small things. Maybe it's part of the nuture the young survival edict.

If we influence our creations to behave like us, would they have our preferences?

Another couple of avatar contenders follow. I like the one with the "happy" Terminator cuddling his RoboRaptor.

Yes, you are right... that is actually a pretty cool pic, especially in the close-up there.  Nice how the red light in the left eye reflects just right... adds that sense of flair every Terminator self portrait needs!  LOL

Still trying to capture the lighter side of an assasin robot.

Since Robocommunity is a gentler, happier place than your typical post-apocalyptic world of killer robots hunting down humans..... I decided to show more of The Terminator's fun side while keeping along the same theme of Bots with their botpets.

Fun side? Looks to me like he's about to bite RoboRaptors head off, Ozzie Osbourne style.

Nice pics MrScott. terminator having fun looks the best. Although the first pic looks good also.

People yearn after this robotic dream, but you can't strip your life of all meaning, emotion and feeling and expect to function.

ahhh! now I'm with you! So RoboCommunity isnt the kinda place where Robotic Killing Machines hunt down humans, its just the kinda place where Robotic killing machines bite the head of other robots.... wait... that doesn't sound right.

Love the pics!  If I were a robot, I would want a pet who could do my bidding, and repair me if necessary.  That's because if I were a robot, I think I would take physical risks that I wouldn't ever take in the real world!

So an R2-D2 companion would be great.  Although, I think I would want it to have an actual voice.

Astromechs speak a language, its just not english. If you were a robot, you'd probably have no trouble understanding one.

If I were a robot, I'd be a mass of nano-machines, allowing me to change my form at will. Along with a whole host of other cool things that being a nano-construct would allow.

That's true... I need to put myself in character.  In fact, it would be preferable to speak in a language that humans didn't understand.  That way, I could carry out my diabolical plans in secret.

Not that I'd be any match for a mass of nano-machines, though!
