Back before WowWee made RoboSapiens, they honed their mechanical skills making animatronic animals. Presented here is a 1999 precursor of their RoboRaptor concept. It's a latex coated, animated Tyranosaurus Rex.

It doesn't walk. It bobs its head, rolls its eyes, snaps its jaws, and roars.

At least it would if some of the wires weren't snapped off from the repeated flexing caused by the motions. Now it just bobs and roars.

Hasbro, as in the Jurassic Park line of toys? I have some of those beasties, too.

This WowWee item is not a Jurassic Park licensed product. It's just a generic dino.

As I recall, ToysRUs had a whole line of animatronic animals that were similar to this little dino. I don't know if all of those were WowWee, or whether different companies were just riding the animatronic trend of the time.

There's another thread from last June that has links to a youtube tour of FastenJaw's large collection of early WowWee toys.
