Does it make any noise when he tries to move it? When he's switch off, does the arm seem to move more freely than the other one?

No it doesn't make any noise, and when he is turned off it just hangs limply, as opposed to staying in position like the other arm.Frown

Not sure you'll get much product specific internals help, here.

I haven't seen any posts that our normal vivisectionists have cracked a Panda open yet.

....and please don't shout. (The all CAPS THING.)

Nocturnal's general questions, and your answer, seems to me to indicate a busted linkage inside.

The way I see it, you can

  1. sit tight and hope somebody opens theirs up and tells you what may be wrong with yours
  2. contact WowWee Customer Service or the store you bought it at for a replacement
  3. jump in with a  screwdriver and a prayer, and be the first to glimpse and share Panda guts.

I have the photo's from my explorations, I just haven't really put them together properly.

You can see some of the photos here, I just have finished uploading them all, or titled them properly

im not a robopanda expert but is it possible that the batteries in one of the legs need changing

January 16, 2008 10:14 PM

No, the problem is specific to a single joint. If it were flat batteries, there would be more.

well thats why im not a robopanda expert tnx for telling meLaughing

I don't know if i should open it up or not i'm afraid i might make the problem worse if i do.Surprised

thanks for trying to help nocturnal, but i dont think that your pictures helped that much.Smile

As earlier mentioned the arm only moves out sideways and not up and down.

i'm thinking it could be some joint disconnection.Undecided

That's the thing about surgery. Sometimes the patient dies.

Anybody who has experienced the unexpected "sproing" of parts flying out of a half opened case knows that things can go from bad to worse in an instant. That's one reason why I dissasemble in a non-cluttered workspace, and document what came from where, as I go.

Now that we know Nocturnal has crossed the line without causing pandemonium or panda-cide, perhaps he can share any "Aha!" experiences related to getting the case open without losing any function. Things like hidden screws, tabs and slots, parts that come loose when the case is split, etcetera.

I didn't really think the photo's would be much help. The ones up there don't show a lot of detail of the arm linkage, I'm going to have go back through the photo's I took and see if there are any in there. Opening it up is not to difficult, you just have to be careful of the wires going to the touch sensors.

until we meet again...

Sprechen sie phonetics?

I think the question asked is "Is it stripped?", as in are the gears stripped so that the motor cannot make the arm move.

That's just a guess, though. There might be some new slang term.

"Shoot!  That thang is strip-tee!"

Did you ever get some help taking a peek inside the panda? It might be an easy fix, and it might be a horrible mortal wound.

Hey, if you are worrying about the risk of opening your little panda friend then if you sill have warranty then just return it to the store of purchase.

The Revolution will never end! :P
