his finger twitches a tiny bit but it wont close, is it worth opening him up and having a look

any help would be great

hi

i would say DON'T open him up , unless you work in,or know a lot about electronics,

if poss can can you take your back to the store you got it from, i took the back off my RS to see

if the problem i was having was just a loose wire (anyway pulled out a ribbon cable by accident )

took me the bsst part of hour to put it back, because i did not have just the rigth tool for the job.

sorry if this is no help

i still believe

hi Roger, if you're still under warranty, I'd second TheTinMam's advice, in the hope that the defective units find their way back to WowWee's attention so they'll actually fix the manufacturing or whatever is resulting in the disfunction.

But, if you're the type to open things up to see how they work, taking off the front torso shell should be informative, because the mechanisms for closing the hands are right behind the LCD screen. There are 8 screws holding the front on, and do be careful of the ribbon cable going to the LCD screen- try not to yank it out.

<ps here's the page describing how to open the chest>

There are some pictures on Nocturnal's website, but please, if you open him, take some pix of yours and post here (especially if something is obviously not right).

Good luck!

yes Roger, can you try posting them into this thread? If that fails, I'll PM my email address to you; if you send them to me, I can edit them into your thread post here.

Congrats! -Scott (was it in the chest area?)

296 if you can see it has been pulled through the plastic collar

295 the pics are in the wrong order this one is the first one with the black plastic bar to hold the coller underneath

aint the best info ever but im impressed that i got him to work and got the pics up too, i can do the hardware just not the software ;)

hi Roger- the images aren't in your posts here yet- you put them into the uploader screen, but once there, you need to click on the little thumbnail so it's URL gets into the first image linking box. I can try editing your post (as moderator) to see if I can fix it...

Done! Nice shots Roger! I notice in yours, as in mine, there are no springs over the shoulders like in the V2s. I marked your post as 'Answer!' too, so hopefully if others have this trouble, they'll find your solution.

cheers- Scott

How odd. Looks like someone forgot to put a screw in. Did you find one floating around inside, or did you borrow another screw from somewhere else?

Nocturnal, I think the pictures are out of order, looks like the cable sleeve pulled through the plastic collar. Pic 295 is the first (closeup), with the screw in place

January 18, 2008 4:01 AM

the screw was there. the spring is connected to the screw by  a few threads of unwound spring? (if that makes sense) the threads broke and the spring slipped through, i had to un ravell a couple of mm of spring and then re wrap it round the screw, (not easy with large hands)

sorry bout getting the pics out of order but once they were upit was too late

took about an hour to do the job, so now its back to learning how to program the beast, im gonna paint him some time over the weekend

thanks everybody for your help im sure it wont be the first and last time eitherCool
