That's a bit too cryptic for me to decipher.
Are you saying that the Discovery Channel is supposed to have some program that features RoboSapiens?

I'm guessing RoboSapien, in England at 10pm on the Discovery Channel on Sky, with the candlestick.

Nah, it was definitely the butler!
If I can remember to, I'll try and catch this tonight or have my other half record it for me. *ties a knot in his hankerchief*

Wouldn't be national at all would it? </sarcasm> I'll only be able to report on the Scottish version I'm afraid. Yes england, 10 pm, discovery channel. Well.... I guess that would be ok. Just so long as the RoboSapien speaks with a scottish accent.
Well I caught the full 60mins and at no time was WowWee or any of their products mentioned. The documentary was based around robotics featuring asimo and robots which are learning (eg learning to play air hockey). The title "Robosapien(s)" came in towards the end when they introduced a gentleman with a robotic arm and touched upon (if you'll pardon the pun) how it works. We also saw a lab rat which was controlled by computer and a man who could only communicate by moving a cursor on a screen by thought. The documentary ended with some brief discussion on how humans might get implants and upgrades, comparing it to todays cosmetic surgery.
All in all the documentary was enjoyable enough. It had a good range of robots, asimo, packbot (police/army robot), set of swarm bots, some more bipedal robots (based on lots of dof's care of servos) to name but a few. I wasn't pleased that there were no RSV1/2/M's though.

So they really wanted to talk about cybernetic organisms (cyborgs) or bionics. Both of those terms have been around for many decades and well accepted by the technical community.
Robosapien, on the other hand, is some sort of mish mash of Robot and homosapien. That's fine for somebody looking for a new product name (like WowWee), but I'm dissapointed it would get hijacked for a documentary like the one described.

Well said MrScott. It's a wonder they could use the term Robosapien in the title with it being a trademark. The title could have been anything, "Where is robotics headed" or "Beginnings of bionics?". I suppose Robosapien was used as a catchy one-word term, they very loosely incorporated it into the last 10mins but appart from that I can't see too strong a connection.
Lawsuit anyone?

I don't know enough (anything) about international IP law to know whether a US Trademark is worth a hoot in the UK. I expect it is, given the two nations are pretty buddy buddy.
I'm sure the WowWee Legal Beagles are looking at the use of their trademarks wherever they pop up.

I'm not really interested in going over the discussion again (ie RoboSapien trademark), so I will give you the gist of the previous discussions. If you search, you will find the term RoboSapien has been used prior to WowWee's release of the RoboSapien.
If I recall correctly, RoboSapien was released in 2004, so here in an example.
A 2003 documentary called Robo Sapiens (which may have been the one on Sky).
Hi,
Does anyone here have "Robosapiens" recorded that was sent by discovery channel and released as DVD (now disconted) by discovery shop?
Send me an email if I can download "Robosapiens" TV program by MSN or somwhere else.
Sorry, I had recorded it on the sky box but have since deleted it.
Why the big fuss to get the program?
markcra.com
Well I'm building robots at spare time and did saw the program (not the entire) once on TV. And think it would be intresting to see the entire program as inspiration in my projects.
Best Regards
Lars
