Interesting. Could we get some more details about what hardware and software (OS) you are using?
I've been having some interesting problems with the RS Media Sutie. When I start the program a series of warnings arise: Microsoft .Net Framework "An unhandled exception has occured in your application...Could not find a part of the path "'C:/ProgramFiles/WowWee/RS Media Suite 2.0/Bodycons"' After pressing continue, there is another warning saying "CreateDevice()- FAILED". After pressing "ok", another warning arises. Also, as expected from the warnings, the bodycon tab of teh suite does not work properly. The media organizer also displays errors. Does anyone know what is wrong?
I'm running Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2. 512 MB of Ram; 60 gig hardrive;
I'll get the rest to you later today.
Any ideas so far?
No ideas yet; what version of Media Suite are you running (2.1 something?). Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing Media Suite?

yes, I've tried that three or four times--I'm running the latest version of the suite.
Yup
Microsoft .NET Framework is version 2
I have all 1.1, 1.1 Hotfix (KB928366), and 2.0
???
Can you do a directory listing of the RS Media Suite 2.0 folder? I'll compare to mine when I get back home this evening; I'm on XP MCE SP2 and like you have dotnet 1.1 through 2.0 installed, and haven't had problems with Media Suite...

I tried reinstalling direct X; that didn't work--thanks though. If you can tell me how to do a directory listing, I can do it. Sorry about being a computer novice.
hm, my program directory is 'RS Media Suite 2.1'. Here's my directory listing:

Here's how to do it:
- Go to the Start menu and choose the Run... choice
- type in 'cmd' (no quotes) and hit OK; you'll get a black window with a command prompt
- type in 'cd c:\program files\wowwee\' and hit enter
- type in 'dir' , hit enter, and you should get a list of all the files and folders inside the WowWee folder; if your Media Suite folder is really named 'RS Media Suite 2.0 then:
- type in 'cd RS Media Suite 2.0' (if the folder name is different, just type it in exactly as shown in your window)
- to save a directory listing to a text file, type in 'dir>>dirlist.txt' and hit enter; this will save the listing in whatever folder you are in.
- You can go back to Explorer and find the file named 'dirlist.txt', open it with Notepad, and paste the contents into your message here.
Good luck! -Scott

It would appear that you are using an old version of RS Media Suite (2.0) ?
I would advise installing 2.1, you can download it from
http://www.wowweesupport.com/download/RS_MEDIA_SUITE_Version2_1.msi
Just make sure you are connected to the internet the first time you run it, as it does a self upgrade.
Ya, I know I had been running the beta simply out of desperation since 2.1, the version that I naturally tried first, wasn't working.

hi Robert, can you CD into the RS Media Suite 2.0 folder and do the dir listing again; also, what is the error(s) when you try to run v2.1? We'll get to the bottom of this yet!
@FREEEK, thanks for creating that thread, I hope that we see some action from WowWee. I've heard they are working on a Vista-compatible version (due out this month if I remember correctly?), I hope that version will solve these problems!

The errors when running version 2.1 are almost the same as running V2.0. When running the software, the first error message is "CreateDevice()-FAILED", then "initD3D()-failed". Then , after clicking on the macro tab, the program displays a window saying the application needs to close and gives me an option to send an error report to Microsoft (like that'll do anything). When I click on bodycon, the same three errors are displayed in the same sequence. Even though the last error tells me that the program must shut down, it doesn't.....???
For some reason, I did it twice......but here it is.

huh, that is really really strange- there's no executable in that folder (nothing with extension .exe, that is the actual program). By any chance, when you installed, did you alter the default installation location? Anyway, a bunch of stuff is missing from your folder here, so I'm not surprised that it has trouble running. The question is, why did this occur?
A couple of possibilities- are you logged in as an administrator on your PC when you try the installation? Try going to Control Panels, then User Accounts. Does it say 'Computer Administrator' under your account name, or 'Limited'?
Other than that, the only thing I can think of is antivirus or PC protection software, like Norton System Works or similar, that prevented a complete installation.
Can you go and do the dir listing in your Media Suite 2.1 folder? I'm wondering if that is truncated as well...
Finally, can you open that file 'WebUpdateSvc.log' and paste the contents into a comment here? This is what mine looks like, it shows that the program was last updated on 05/04/2007.

Nope, I didn't alter the default installation location, but I do have multiple, probably conflicting, virus and spyware applications that may have prevented a full installation from taking place.
I'll uninstall those programs, then try reinstalling the media software.
P.S.--ya, I'm the administrator on my PC.

I think this is what you want.....
Yes, well from that we can say the 2.0 beta update ran successfully on Jan 6, but did you run the 2.1 install after that date?
I'd say also delete both of those RS Media Suite folders (the 2.0 and the 2.1). Make your system as clean as possible, and then run only the 2.1 installer freshly downloaded from WowWee support here.
Just a note, my 2.0 beta directory looks the same as yours, that's because running the 2.1 installer removes all previous versions. I think, if you look at where your shortcut is pointed to, it is running the 2.1 executable, but then looking in the 2.0 folder for the Bodycon directories.
If you had the beta running OK before, then again completely uninstalling and deleting those directories; and then running only the beta installer, should make 2.0beta work again.
ps here's what my shortcut (Properties) looks like:

no, all the properties for the short cut look the same.
I had tried to use the beta before, only after the orginal 2.1 version didn't work from the cd I got with the robot.
The 2.0 beta never worked properly either.
1.1, or the first version nenver worked as it should have; although it seems like that for everybody
From the "Add or Remove Programs" tab in the control panel, the 2.0 beta version is gone; only the 2.1 version exists which I have downloaded from the cd; I've also tried the 2.1 version from the website--that didn't work either.
