An impressive amount of articulation there for $399.

The last video seems to provide the most insight into the programability of the beastie.

Looks like you define poses by setting joint angles, then string together poses to create movement sequences. Those sequences are loaded into the robot (via cable?)

There was no mention of sensors, or behavioral programming based on those sensors.

I didn't catch any reference to a puppet training mode that would allow it to remember "this" pose, and now "that" pose.

If it doesn't have sensors, or the ability to react to what it senses, its lower on the scale of AI than a RoboSapien.

Even if it doesn't have the sensors, i want oneLaughing

P.s. mr.scott, what does O.G.J.S.R. stand for?Undecided

but it does have i think i heard 8 analog inputs, those could be for sensors.

GWJax, To Hack and make mods on robots is a life style and comes natural and not by choice. If a robot has a screw to open it then it must be opened!

The user's guide is online.

Controller:
- ATmega32 -16PU
- Interrupt Driven kernel for InfraRed remote
and Servos handling
- 24 servo channels
- up to 8 I/O interface for add on hardware
- 8KB flash for more than 300 user motions
InfraRed Remote:
- can play 121 user defined motion routines
- control up to 4 RoboPhilo independently
Power:
- Charger can be used for motion
programming while charging the battery to
extend the time of play
- provide regulated 5V DC and unregulated 6V -
7.2V DC for add on hardware
Software Features
Graphical User Interface
- Fine tune the servo setting
- Create motion routines
- Pose can be reused by other sequence to
save storage
- Sequence can be reused by other routine to
save storage
- User can use the PC to run the motion step by
step to create the motion
- Download the motion and setting to RoboPhilo
- Once download, motion can be run through the
infra red remote controller
- Motion routines can be shared among user by
exporting the routines to a motion file
- User can run other's motion by importing the
motion file

I heard on the movie clip also about those 8 inputs. Mabey it will upgradable. Robots like Robonova  and KHR support gyrosensor (as hardware upgrade). This robot could be  more  than a better deal.

Another thing if we look at the degrees of freedom as comparison ROBONOVA have 17 , KONDO KHR1 have 19 and this roboPhilo have 20. Surprised

If we compare it with another accesible humanoid robot (also ~300USD) I-sobot have 17 but can NOT be programmed by computer, only Remote Controled.

Waiting with interest more detailed info about future hack modes or hardware upgrades, until then I go to socialize with my robots because the RoboticAge has begun and I do want to make a good impression to this litle guys and let me join their community ... the ROBOCOMMUNITY Wink

Just wondering where the icon pix is there is a blank square surrounding that wipes out most of the message, making it unreadeable. Not all posts do this but several do. Just noticed that my message is in a very small font size as I type it in also. Just wondering what is causing these problems? Paul

Problem with the website viewing? What Internet Browser do you use? Try change it to see if it's OK?

Have windows XP. This morning everything is normal with the viewing just the small fonts when I am typing in the post. I think something in IE corrupted last night and messed up my viewing of the posts. Seems ok now. Must have been my IE. MS again...but what would we have without them? Paul

Try to reinstal Windows or desinfect you computer. I use Mozilla Internet Browser is more buggless then the  Internet Explorer and with less security brakes!

Firefox 2 never any problems.

People yearn after this robotic dream, but you can't strip your life of all meaning, emotion and feeling and expect to function.
