My guess is that its mostly supposed to entertain young kids.
A junkyard dog that sometimes thinks its a cat.... that would make the youngsters ROFL.... for about 10 minutes.
After that, I don't know how much play time the little mutt would get.
The color and shape coded mode buttons on the back, and the cartoonish sounds they make when pressed, lead me to think the target market is the 3 to 8 year olds.
My youngest child is nearly 14. My family is not the target market.
