Based on what I have been reading, IR avoidance needs to be turned on, and possibly may only function in an autonoumous mode.

Hm, looks like the IR wall avoidance may need some work! Pretty zippy though...

Possibly the best indoor flyer right now. The dragonfly can be driven indoors, I saw a salesperson flying one in the middle of a toystore last weekend quite well. At one point though, it strayed a bit far & nearly collided with a shopper. IR avoidance is definitely a plus.
In the Roboboa , this feature is always on - it's nearly impossible to drive it headon against a solid wall even under remote control. Less solid stuff like grills give it problems though.
It's going to be interesting if you have the option to turn IR avoidance off/on at will with the Bladestar.
Hmm... You raise an interesting point. I would how the BladeStar will do again a flywire screen on a window or door.
The guy flying the Bladestar manages to crash it several times but near the end , there is an interesting description of the built-in sensors & the dogfight mode.

hi NoroBiik, just an FYI- you can fix the embedded video links by manually putting the www into the URL- try http://www.youtube.com/etc
Or you can just paste the video ID into the URL box (ie just paste in BKiMroDNv6c)
This is due to a bug in the YouTube embedder script, but the tech guys are working on the fix.
thanks for posting all the videos!
cheers- Scott

Interesting words, but I haven't seen the implementation working in these videos.
He said the upper and lower sensors could be used to have the BladeStar hover between your two hands. That was just after the BladeStar rose up and smacked him in the hand just before falling the floor. Maybe he moved his hand down too quickly. Maybe the hover behavior wasn't enabled.
The bit about dog fight mode was interesting, too. I assumed that two BladeStars would be zooming at each other. The fact that some sort of IR focus attachement is added to the controller makes me wonder whether the users are "shooting" at the BladeStars from the remote.
He mentioned something about how a "hit" would cause the BladeStar to lose power momentarily, and that multiple "hits" would cause the BladeStar to land and power off.
I would have preferred to see a remote control triggered "shot" from one BladeStar transmitter aimed at the other BladeStar. The entire BladeStar vehicle must be spinning wildly, so I suppose you would not be able to aim a "shot" from a BladeStar. The spinning transmitter would sweep the entire room with each pulse.

Thanks for the tip! I"ll go back & try that with the new Femisapien video I found.
After seeing the video it looks a bit hairy fairy to me, I would have to see some more detailed video before i can comment on this product.
People yearn after this robotic dream, but you can't strip your life of all meaning, emotion and feeling and expect to function.
