Interesting, how did you come across the domain if you dont mind me askin?

Anyone have any info on the "Bladestar" ? Will it be launched at CES2008 ?
Hmmm.... I wonder if someone made a mistake there. I would say yes, the bladestar is a product being launched at CES 2008. Generally speaking, WowWee does not release any information to the public prior to CES.
The fact they have registered the domain is a pretty good indication though.
I'm mentaly picturing something roundish, with five or six points, that spins (or has parts that spin).
Of course, it could just be a really hyped name for a helicopter.
Did you ever think it is basicaly a dragonfly 2 and for the sake that the name is boring, they renamed it.
kind of like if they had named RoboBoa, oh say RoboMaggot? The meta keywords on that page are not too enlightening either:
meta name="Keywords" content="Flytech™ Bladestar, wowwee, flying toy, robot, robotics, optimal group"

Yeah it might kinda be a Dragonfly V2 or something. They just want to make it sound cool!

Nocturnal said: Could be, but WowWee names tend to partially descriptive.I totally agree there. I mean think about it. RoboQUAD? He has four legs. The names of the robos are always describing what type of life form they are or a trait about them. I agree with Nocturnal.

Bladestar? Sounds like a helicopter to me as the rotating airfoil are usually called "blades" on a heli. I doubt they would release yet another RC heli so there must be something special about it like it is super easy to fly with on board gyros, accelerometers, CPU stabilizing etc (most "standard" ones are very twitchy) and has an odd look to it.
I dunno what FlyTech's planning, but there's more than one "BladeStar" out there.

Hey, since they are our first contact with the future, do you think we could ask them to tell us what WowWee's BladeStar is? or am I just taking things to literally again.
I think it might be some fantasy creature like RoboQuad was or maybe a really hyped up Heli. Who knows? It's very confusing!

I googled this article on a blog - it claims that Wowwee will release at least 3 new robots in CES 2008. The Bladestar (flying bot with sensors & collision detection), the Mr. Personality robotic companion & Rovio exploration & telepresence bot.

Rovio incorporates the Northstar navigation system from Evolution Robotics :
It looks like the buyout of Wowwee by the Optimal group has sparked a new direction for their robotics technology.
BladeStar
Mr Personality
Rovio
Rovio reminds me an evolved Roboboa , with 3 wheel locomotion & flexible head (which has a webcam). Very interested in this one.
I have a question. What did you just say?

NoroBiik said he found a link to a blog that shows what might be some of the products that WowWee will be displaying at CES 2008 are.
He is also talking about some of the technology WowWee is known to have been looking at, and suggesting that WowWee's new owners might have some new ideas.
Hmm.... if our blogger friend is correct, there may also be another two flytech products.
Its not really the same as RoboBoa, Both Mr Personality and ROVIO have what appear to be universal wheels. The wheels are fixed in place. Turning is acheived by running all the wheels in the same direction until the base is facing that correct direction. Moving forward is acheived by powering two of the wheels in oposite directions, while the black segements on the third wheel (which are actually loose and turn freely) allow it be dragged.
If you check my Post in Rumours/Gossip "Predictions CES 2008+", the Rovio / Romio are on the cards +others.
Well, the Rovio will be in immediate competition with Spykee and with iRobot's ConnectIR. All three offer webcam on roving base with internet control. I'm curious which'll be first to market- so far none are released products.
And hey, how come this 'Dean Takahashi' gets to spill the beans two days early?!

how about guessing prices? I'd put the bladestar between $75 and $100; Rovio at least $250 and the Mr Personality in the middle at $150. Been saving your nickels, Mr N?

Yes Dr M, I have been saving. But I think I'm going to have to get a paper route to cover the cost of the new goodies.
The BladeStar will probably be slightly more expensive than the DragonFly, since it appears to have a tiny tiny brain. Mr Personality is like an RS Media in a new body, given the wild price ranges for the RS Media ($750AUD to $150AUD) it really hard to say. ROVIO appears to be entirely new hardware, and it will probably have licensing royalties included in the price.
So I think your probably right about the BladeStar pricing, and probably below the mark for the Rovio and Mr Personality.
Who knows what information is being released during the CES pre-show events, perhaps he snuck a look in the door while WowWee was setting up.
Things are getting intersting, the Ces show stars in a couple of days about a week or two. the anticipation is killing me, which is why i love doing this. by the way good job Norobiik.
