Coming from Pixar and Disney in June, WALL-E

Looks like a must see, for me.

It would be great if WowWee could get the product rights and enable us to each have our own Wall-E.

The little bot appears to be equal parts Johnny 5, Vincent, R2D2, and the robots from Silent Running.

our local cineplex has a 4' high (life size?) 3 d cardboard model out in the lobby. I'm hoping to snag it, but without motors I guess it might not go!

thx MrScott!

I saw one of those cardboard WALL-E props in a theatre lobby last week. I saw the trailer I posted as a preview on the big screen this week.

I find bots built like Johnny 5 a more likely near future than something like Sonny from IRobot. An unglamerous worker bot, that gets hijacked for higher purposes.Yup. I can see that happening with a a little help from folks like us.

It does remind me a lot of Johnny 5, and I'm right with you there on worker bots being a more likely near future than fully humanoid robots.

M'mmm Iv'e got a set of Mattracks that would do the job just fine for a bot like this.

milw: I acually bought them in the states through the Parallax forum. They are very good, but you will have to interface them to whatever you attatch them to. That is servos or gear train.

"WALL-E" teaser looks absolutely amazing...just stumbled into it tonight.

You can see it in HD on the Apple site - I can't wait for this one to come out
http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/walle/hd/

Brilliant director of "Finding Nemo" is doing this one...check out this quote from Wikipedia...

After directing Finding Nemo, Stanton felt they "had really achieved the physics of believing you were really under water, so I said 'Hey, let’s do that with air.' Let’s fix our lenses, let’s get the depth of field looking exactly how anamorphic lenses work and do all these tricks that make us have the same kind of dimensionality that we got on Nemo with an object out in the air and on the ground.'"[4] Producer Jim Morris added that the film was animated so that it would feel "as if there really was a cameraman.

One of my next projects will use those mattracks, May even make it look like WALL-E using U/s ping for the eyes.

Talk about viral marketing! Did you check out the virtual hubby bot? The Xanadou shopping medication? Thes people have way too much time on their hands!

Not only that, it is also modifying the pages to localize, must be reading the visitors IP and finding the registrar's location? This is worthy of a new thread, methinks.

Im confused.  Was that a play on the story line or did they really make a Wall-E?

Personaly I think Wall-E resembles Roboquad.  His head looks the same.

Its a website designed to help advertise the movie.

I invite you to compare Wall-E to Johnny 5 then.

Nocturnal: There is NO comparison, Johny five is my all time favorite robot and beats Wall-e hands down in every way,[ Nice photo btw ] Next would have to be the T105 in Terminator.

*Laughs* I know you revere Johnny 5 4mem8, and I wasn't suggesting a direct comparison of them. I was inviting Robo BG to compare Wall-E's head to Johnny 5's head.

Oh, Sorry for the mistake Nocturnal, You had me worried there for a while.

I'd be too scared that Johnny 5 would do something nasty to me with his laser, or perhaps spend 30 seconds disassembling my car.

"Nice Software.....hmmmmm." Tongue out

Johnny 5 would be very unhappy with us.  "No Dissasemble!"

Yeah I see the similarity Nocturnal.  The head looks very much alike.  Does anyone else though see a resemalence in RQ's head to Wall-E's or maybe even Johny 5's?
