Okay, not Santa per se, but my Fiancee bought me a Roboquad and her parents bought me a RSV2, shown below with my RSV1. What did Santa buy you (robotics/electronics/Robosapien related please)?

As expected, I got a Media, wifey got a V1. Santa brought our son a Robopet, and my nephew a RoboRaptor. Wifey also got a mini v1, son got a mini 'pet and a mini 'quad. Not to mention the new "ornament", Santa wrapped a paperclip around a mini-mini-mcdonald's v2 and hung it from the tree.

Watch out, don't step in the anthropomorphization.

I got nothing speacial, just an Asimo.....

And I thought I had done well. Nice haul! What have you got planned for your army (besides world domination).

Aha, my plans are rumbled!! My intention with the army of v1's is to modify a couple, the usual hand led jobs etc, but reading your blog on the hand swops I might convert one into a double left hander, if possible. One of the v1's is dead with undiagnosed cause as yet but it does have very good armour so he may become an unwilling donor. The v2 is destined to control via robo dance machine (when I find my USBIRT). RS Media is to be personalised to a Lost in Space B9 personality (eventually) and the roboquad is destined to autonimous wandering until i can figure out it's programming.

Looks like I'm going too be busy for a while!!

Sounds like a good plan to me. Hand LED mod is good, try and find something ultra-bright such that it lights up a spot where the hand is aiming at. Swapping out a right for a different bot's left won't pose any problems (if I recall, you'll just need to keep the black lever/actuator from the right hand). I'm still unsure what will become of my new minions, though RSV2 is definitely getting a volume control asap.

Santa was kind enough to bring me the "How to Survive a Robot Uprising" handbook.

It's by Daniel H. Wilson, and is subtitled "Tips on Defending Yourself Against the Coming Rebellion".

Wilson is a PhD candidate at Carnegie Mellon studying robotics.

It's a tongue in cheek analysis of where science fiction writers and Hollywood have gotten it "right", and where they're off the beaten path when it comes to robots taking over the world.

It's a fun, light read. Just right for endless hours dealing with airports and plane flights over the holidays.

Santa? who is he. Oh that must be me or at least i have his belly. lol    Well lets start with a V2 that has all his wires broken from tye straps and decay, then RQ really cool looking with his red body armor, RR had to take him apart to check out his head and jaw assembly and know he is back togeather running around, RP that likes to pee on everything and then my favorite ELVIS Alive what a cool looking robot , i have not taken him apart YET! but RS V2 needs tending too before i install batterys in him to see if he works. So I think i had a pretty cool x-mass. Just can't wait to hack the Elvis, I think I will wait awhile of that one.

happy New Year everyone and lets make 2008 the ultimate Hack Year.

GWJax, To Hack and make mods on robots is a life style and comes natural and not by choice. If a robot has a screw to open it then it must be opened!

I got one of those i-Sobot's.  My sister got a roboquad and dragonfly.

Hurrah!!! I've finally found my USBIRT, (cue for bald head, Persian cat and maniacal laughter!!!!!!)

January 2, 2008 10:50 AM

I got a roboreptile and all I have done so far since christmas I've never stopped playing with it! Although, this is battery spending hell!!!

Robots will rule my house!

All i got from santa was a Robopanda and a roboreptile.Surprised

I really wanted a robosapian v1, and a robosapian v2.

The real one?

Last words I said to my Roboquad:
May the force be with you.
Remember the roboquad. I miss him.

Santa?  Oh no I thought I scared him away with the army of evil sonowmen!!!  Well I found a Roboquad under the tree!  I can't stop playing with him.  He goes in my basement, utility room, kitchen, family room and he guards my room while I do HW.  He's great!

Keep the robotic dreams,
