I took a tour on Wow WEE's store and I saw RS Media -  Java SDK for sale. I look at the specifications , features and summary and didn't saw any differences between mine (purchased in December 2006) and this robot from the WOW WEE's store. SO?!?!? I can run Java programs on it too? There's too much questions without answer in this Java problem:

1)Why Wow Wee do not give a minimum detail about that JAVA SDK thing? (Exactly  what's that SDK thing?)

2)We have an inferior robot? and if they are any:

3)What are the differences between this ROBOT and earlier RS Media robots?

P.S: ... hope for an clear simple answer for each question Surprised  we are not considered too stupid to understand, aren't we?!? Frown

Hey guys...

There's a ton of conversation (and answers) about the RS Media Java Edition on RoboCommunity.  Let me direct you to some of it, and try to answer a few of your questions outright.

All that being said, let me point you to the discussion that took place around Davin's blog entry.  That's where you'll find the most answers to your questions.  But let me try to knock a few of them out for you...

1)Why Wow Wee do not give a minimum detail about that JAVA SDK thing? (Exactly  what's that SDK thing?)

As I understand it, any RS Media (except the very earliest batch, which almost nobody has) can work with Java.  The problem is that Sun is not making the Java Robot SDK generally available.  So, the only way to get the TOOLS to do the Java work (without stealing them, which we obviously discourage) is to purchase the RS Media with SDK bundle sold on the WowWee Store.  The RS Media you get IS NOT DIFFERENT than yours; the unique / valuable part of the purchase is the SDK CD that comes with it.  THAT is what makes the Java programming you want to do possible.

2)We have an inferior robot? and if they are any:

No. See answer #1.

3)What are the differences between this ROBOT and earlier RS Media robots?

None. See answer #1 again.

Hope this helps.

PS...  C'mon, FREEK.  You know better than to believe that anyone thinks you're stupid, right?  I'm glad you asked; this whole situation isn't as straight-forward as anyone would like it to be.  Hope I've cleared up a little confusion, though.

I've just purchased a standard RS Media robot and found out about the Java SDK after purchase.  Is there any way I can buy the SDK without the robot?
