Well, for one thing, I think they should be more flexable at the knees so it could pick its feet up farther. Also, they need to do away with the rocking back and forth while walking. How many people do you see do that when they walk. Watching the robosapien is (to me) watching a drunk try to walk a straight line.
Okay, gang... Was just watching some videos Dradts posted, and I wanted to bring this to the braintrust here on RC... How do we get the Robosapien to walk better?
I know a number of people want wheels instead of legs, but I'm still not convinced that's the future... a lot of limitations there too, just not early wobbliness. :-)
So, what would WowWee need to do to improve the stability and effectiveness of a bipedal bot like Robosapien?
Or maybe building a bit of shortening action into the thigh, it would help get more clearance for the lifted foot. The rocking back and forth is intentional, as part of the design to conserve energy, according to Tilden.
There's a lot of stuff on the web, here at NASA.gov for example.
A cheap retrofit kit for V2s/RSMs could be popular, I think.

Not sure about other sensor and servo requirements, but the robot definitely needs a Gyro, like in RC Helicopters.
I know this thread is about Biped's, but ever since I got my Roboquad I'm convinced that it's walking platform is the hot stuff. Bipeds will have to wait until we get Asimo/QRIO styled articulated walking at a consumer price. Sure you have the Robo-one series and now the i-Sobot who move really well, but I don't think you can have a robot with an onboard motherboard of signifcant capacity and get a robot to walk like that; too much weight without having some real power behind the legs to walk fluidly and that costs bucks currently.
We'll have to see how the tracked Spyke robot makes out too.
Robodance 5 - Rovio over Skype with Voice Control
- No more router setup hassles
- 2 way audio on any system
- Python scripting support (and much more!)
The HiTec RoboNova seems to have a leg up on the competition.

Very good MrScott, I've seen this one before, but it was good to see it again.
People yearn after this robotic dream, but you can't strip your life of all meaning, emotion and feeling and expect to function.
