That's pretty much my question.  I thought he was an insect, but many disagree.  So, my question...  What *is* he?

No mark said it was what explored mars with diffrent stuff like its dance

No, Mark said it was initially based off a design he did for NASA that would allow a robot explorer to move in any direction.

I suggest you listen to the TekTime interview if you want to hear the alien line.

Lol. The spring has arrived.

Leo: For example today I will get love which I use to create sentences.
Billy: But you are neutral you need love.
Bridget: In the sky and cover the moment.
Bridget: Do you think that sleep mode is better than a human soul.

Technically an insect would have six legs, and a spider (arachnid) would have eight.

He looks more crab-ish than insectlike, to me. Especially when it's scooting sideways.

The leg count isn't right for crustaceons , either.

Hexapods are a popular stepping robot configuration, as you can get overlapping three leg strides that always leave three feet on the ground for stability.

Something like

  • lift left front, left rear, and right middle feet
  • move lifted feet forward
  • lower feet
  • lift right front, right rear, and left middle feet
  • move lifted feet forward
  • lower feet
  • repeat as needed
That's a much more complicated set of motions than the ingenious "tip and swivel" technique that the RoboQuad legs use.

Sure, an insect from EARTH would have 6-8 legs...  But this is an alien insect!  Who knows what could happen!?!

Surprised
