I have my beautiful, brand new bronze raptor but I cannot seem to change his moods or move his head and tail etc. He just stays in hunt mood or roams on his own. He does react to sound and touch but not always to the remote.

Could it be the remote or is he faulty...I hope not as he came from a real grumpy bloke on e-Bay. Any suggestions as I am new to all this. Thanks.

The IR receiver is in his head, so always point the remote at his head. Its also forward facing, so point the remote at his head from the front.

Thanks for the comments but I have tried using the remote only in front and at close and long range, new batteries etc.

It worked once yesterday but after I stopped it with the stop button has not responded since.

From other sites I have read this is a "known" fault with some robots and it makes me wonder how they can be sold at such high prices when they are clearly not reliable.

Really? could you link some of those for me, because I can't recall encountering someone with a similar problem.

EvoSapien.com :: View topic - RoboSapien doesnt respond to remote!

EvoSapien.com :: View topic - No response to remote

I hope this helps, not sure how to insert links, just page down the EvoSapien home page to the Roboraptor section and these two threads are on the first page, they sound very similar problems to mine.

You could try opening up the remote and bridging the IR LED with another visible LED (or try pointing the remote at a Digital camera and watch the LCD) to determine if the remote is functioning correctly.
