Hi, I  have just received a replacement RSM and during testing noticed his head doesn't seem to look down. I'm sure the previous one his head would noticebly look down - can anyone confirm? This one goes up but only as far down that he appears to be looking straight ahead. Also if I press full down and then go up the motor seems to work for a while before his head moves up. Seems to have trouble tracking, always wants to look up.

Hi,

Just tried mine, with mine when his head is level and i press head down, his head moves down and if i still hold it down he leans forward and the same for head up, if his head is level and i press head up the head moves up and if i keep it pressed he leans back.

But there is not a massive movement with his head but he does look up and down from the level position.

Hope that helps you, Hunter.

Hi Hunter

Big help..Thanks for that, thats what I thought. With my current one, his head gets to the level position and then he leans forward. He won't look down without leaning forward which means when tracking he won't look down and keeps wanting to look up and looses the object. Damn, looks like I have to return this one as well.

Has any one had any faulty units? The first one I returned due to 2 x problems and since having this one discovered my previous one had two other faults (one of them may have been the USB cable). Makes you question the QC.

I too am not greatly impressed with the quality control.  I am still waiting for a decision from the retails if hey are gonna refund my return or not. They sold out before christmas so hopefully ill get a refund then ill wait for the US release RSM to be available in the UK which will hopefully be better.

Any one know if the US version will have more/Different features on it or is it just an updated model with the Bugs sorted out?
Hunter.

What prblems did your one have Artanor?

January 22, 2007 12:53 AM

Hunter, can you confirm if when you put yours into sleep mode he dips his head?

January 22, 2007 4:30 AM

Mine lent to the right. He would start out Ok but as soon as he did something that involved leaning over to the right he didnt return back to the center so he slouched.  It also ment he walked in circles rather than a straight line.

Yer I'm having problems with mine too, he doesn't recognise colors at all & when he's tracking he just says tracking & turns to the left & stays there.

Also I'm having software problems Ive just posted a thread for some help!

I've emailed wowwee support but not having much luck, I would rather try & sort out the problem rather than take him back.

BigKid yes his head dips when i put him in to sleep mode.

Artanor when im using my RS sometimes he will stop with a lean to the right and i have to press select to straighten him up, but there is no paten to this sometimes he is ok other times not?

Artanor

Both mine have done that as well but from what I can tell thats an inherent problem with all of them. Sometimes it seems the centering springs don't centre, like hunter I found pressing select would straighten him up. The walking in circles is very slight also. Problem with first one I had were:

Left Hand Sensor not working.

USB transfer extemely slow (not sure if cable or robot).

Battery life unacceptable - may also be common to all, yet to test on second one.

Hand buttons not working properly, eg pressing both outside buttons wouldn't change mode.

The second one just has the head problem where it won't look down, still to test battery life. Availability of  suitable batteries may be half the problem here. I also found Wowee support limited - they advised me to get 11000 mAh batteries which are not availble here, there are some 9000's I've found but the price is ridiculous, not prepared to spend more than half the cost of the robot on batteries. Still trying to decide if I will try a third or get my money back at this stage. Depends on how the batteries go this time.

Just tried my hand buttons, if im in control mode and press both outer buttons nothing happens?

but if im in Arm mode and press both outer buttons it will change to media mode, press again it will change to to control mode, press again and once again nothing happens?

is this the way they all work, or has mine got a problem?

as for my hand sensors, my RS has to pick up an object that will make his fingers open quite along way apart for his hand sensors to register he has got hold of a object.

and my RS has a slight turn (to the right) when walking but nothing to bad.

Hi Hunter

From wht the manual says pressing both outside buttons should change between modes, it shouldn't matter what mode you are in. This did not work at all on the first bot I had. Will check after work that it changes from Control mode also. With the hand sensors the object has to be big enough that the hand doesn't completely close so there is pressure is on the pads. One hand wasn't working on prev bot, new one is fine.
